Anyone here have any suggestions to help relieve muscle weakness at all? I have felt so weak over this past year and so tired too. Thanks for any help you might have.

HI, I wish I had answers but I know exactly how you feel. I feel like that a lot too. Are you on hormones? I am not. Hugs. (my surgery was last year)

Re: Any suggestions for muscle weakness?

Hi ladies,
Last week my doc (pcp) took blood to check my vitamin D levels. I read an article this weekend that indicated low vitamin D can cause both bones to hurt and muscles to be weak. I actually saw the doc regards depression and my med for that. Might be worth reading up on and/or talking to your docs about at your next scheduled exam.

Re: Any suggestions for muscle weakness?

If there is no medical cause for your weakness make sure you are getting adequate rest and eating properly. Maybe take a vitamin or supplements.
Start a gentle exercise program that incorporates stretching, strengthening, endurance and cardio. Start slow and build up slowly. If you do not know how begin by walking 4 days a week. Each week increase your distance by 10%. This site has an article with some suggestions for exercising your abdominal muscles. Many towns and colleges offer low cost exercise classes. The computer is a good source as well as some of the TV exercise shows. Yoga is great just make sure you have a knowledgeable instructor that can show you alternate movements if one is painful or just to hard. The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA.org) has a good book entitled something like -book of Body Maintanence and Repair - it is informative and has a lot of pictures. Good luck

Re: Any suggestions for muscle weakness?

Have you seen your doctor to find out why you are having the fatigue and muscle weakness? Or, do you know what might be contributing?

There are so many different causes of fatigue and muscle weakness that I think the first course of action would be to determine the why.... then you can determine the appropriate treatment...

Wishing you strength and energy, Kathy
