Pain at the end of urination

Hi there,
I am about 4 weeks post op robotic assisted hysterectomy, TVT, and AP repair. I also had some internal bleeding and have a small football sized hematoma in my belly that needs to absorb on its own. Well, my biggest complaint is the pain I'm having at the end of urination, my gyn is stumped and states he has never had a patient complain of this (this is also the same guy who told me to cut my own dissolvable suture that poped out to the surface of the skin because he "didn't have a scissor or tweezers that small"). I have been on antibiotics and it is not a UTI. Just curious has anyone ever experienced pain at the end of urination that is not a UTI. I am a RN and I can only guess that maybe the bladder is bruised but if so, how long will this last? I've done alot of research on the internet but I'm just more confused...can anyone shed some light!! Please??

Re: Pain at the end of urination

I'm 3 weeks post-op robotic assisted hysterectomy. I saw my dr. yesterday for the first time after surgery. I told her that I have a burning sensation at the end of urination. I also told her that it's not severe enough for me to think it's UTI. She told me that it's due to the bladder being "by itself" now, instead of being tucked in with the uterus. She said it can take quite awhile for the bladder to get used to it's new position.
I hope this helps.

Re: Pain at the end of urination

I am 8wks. post op for an abdominal hysterectomy (kept ovaries) and last week, I talked to my Doc. about pain at the end of urination. The best way for me to describe it is "pelvic floor pain" when I totally release the urine. Doc. explained that ligaments that were once holding the uterus in place were cut to remove the uterus so those areas are healing and adjusting. She said it was nothing to worry about and would get better with time. In just a week, I have noticed that it doesn't ache as much.

Hope this helps!
