How can I tell if my uterus is prolapsing?

I was wondering about my uterus and thought who better to ask but all of you sisters out there! How can I tell if my uterus is prolapsing? To be honest with you, I have no idea what my vaginal vault is supposed to look/feel like. For example, is it normal to be able to feel your cervix? Do things fall into the vaginal vault when you bear down? I have had rectocele and cystocele surgery and am set for rectal prolapse surgery next month. I honestly have no idea what a prolapsed uterus feels and don't know if I have one and have just lived with it for so long that it seems normal. Sorry if I gave too much information but I am very curious. Thanks!!!

My first clue was that I could not insert tampons. They wouldn't go in unless I angled them to the right or left.

Re: How can I tell if my uterus is prolapsing?

When your uterus prolapses you can feel the cervix as it will be close to the opening. In my case my uterus is gone, but now I just have a bulge of the vaginal vault protruding and it is not a good thing.

If you are having prolapse issues be sure that you are seeing a urogynocolgist. Find the top surgeon in your area and even then get a second opinion.

I had my prolapsed uterus removed and am facing additional surgery after only six months. Make sure that any further surgery is well thought out by the best you can find. In the case of surgery Less is definitely more!

All the best.

In my case my cervix is at the opening! There is a feeling of fullness and bulging, pain and pressure.

Victorian Rose,

If you do go for surgery make sure that they address the vaginal vault also! My uterus was removed and the vault has now prolapsd as well!
