Les Charmed 78 your surgery is the day before mine on the 16th and I am on the 17th! Good Luck!
Phebe how is that infection you were being treated for??? How are you now~ I have now advanced to Percocets the Tylenol #3 does NOTHING for the cramps My Dr. put me on Progesterone pills to keep my bleeding down before my surgery because I am due to start on Valentines day which would be 3 days before surgery! Having a Vaginal Hysterectomy taking Uterus and Cervix.....this has been a very long haul! The Dr. is stressing to be that infection can easily set in after surgery and to follow instructions and not to do anything until the full 6 weeks! She said even though I may feel good I am still going to be healing on the inside!!! Counting the days~

Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms?
Hi Casteneda! I wish you all the best for your surgery on the 17th! It won't be long now. You will feel so much better when it's over!!
As for my infection, I'm not sure if it's gone or not. I still have pain at the site and I still am draining. But my fever is gone and I am finally beginning to feel better. I go to the doc tomorrow so I will ask her what she thinks!
I'm really worried about it not going away completely. I was on antibiotics last surgery for another infection (my failed Myomectomy in August 2009) and thought that infection was gone. But when she did my hyst the doc said that infection was still there, I had it for 5 months!! No wonder I was so tired all the time.
I will let you know what happens! In the meantime, take care and best of luck to you!!
Phebe

Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms? The saga continues
Hi there Girls, I'm back to catch up with all of you and see how you are doing. I really hope you will all let me know how you have been after your hysterectomies.
I am really going through the ringer. On Feb 1st I had surgery to remove a softball size polyp that had grown in four short months. Cancer scare demolished!
After surgery I had pain for a week, but much better followed by 18 days of almost no pain. (still needed alot of ibuprophen) No Vicodin- Yay!
Then a week before my cycle the pain started stepping up and this cycle was a big bad one. Same old familiar pain-back, after the DandC and hysteroscopy.
Went to my post op today.
Am Discouraged.
Dr. wanted me to go to a chronic pain specialist. Says outside my uterus fine, inside my uterus fine. No reason for pain. Thinks its, I don't know- whatever! I have read your posts and posted my own here. You have related to my symptoms. What else can it be, if not adenomyosis? Everything else has been looked at.
I try to tell him it's pain centered around my cycle and referred pain in my leg and elsewhere. Back pain, pain in my uterus. I tell him my uterus feels like a big toothache and that I felt better after the Dand C. I don't know why.
I felt pretty darn good. Leg stopped hurting, back, uterus heaved a sigh.
He was surprised I had any relief at all! I don't understand.
Now he wants me to go on the dreaded depot lupron and Provera to see if it is my uterus.
Duh!!!!!
He says what harm will it do?
I say plenty.
I have been through so much already. My marriage has already suffered alot through all this. I don't know how much more it can take.
I think it's adenomyosis. Everything else has been looked at. I've done my research back, forward, through and through. I'm not uneducated.
I'm not rushing into a hysterectomy. I've been trying to avoid one for years. This pain has been steadily getting worse for the last six or so years. The polyp was just an incidental. I had pain before it ever showed up.
He says my uterus is unremarkable. Well my inner voice and intuition say that the lupron is just needless suffering and that my unhappy uterus just wants to be let go.
He is afraid a hysterectomy may be a mistake because he cannot find pathology.
We all know that adenomyosis can be diffuse and elusive. Mostly it is found after pathology. He agrees with this, but still he presses.
He is so convinced a hysterectomy will not stop my pain.
Why does he insist? I dont feel like his making me a guinea pig to try to prove a point is kind or smart, but thats just me. He says if the Lupron takes away my pain then he'll know its a female problem. Am I missing a step here ladies?
I really need the voice of experience and womanly intuition to help me be strong in the face of this. This is so crazy!
I am running out of time to go to more Doctors for more opinions to prove what I already know. I don't have the money or patience to go through more crisis, only to wind up at the inevitable.
Please give insight dear ladies. The voice of common sense. I do so need it.
Thanks,
Butterfly

Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms?
what my doc told me was there is no way to know for sure if its adenomyosis until after the hysterectomy. I had everything removed (done with it, my kids are in their 30s) no more pain.
I still have gas, and now nite sweats but that is just a part of menopause that starts immediatley after the hysterectomy. Each month goes by and I wait for the horrible debilitating pain I had for years...nothing and its great. My LAVH was Dec 2. and I'm good. and so happy to be pain free.
good luck

Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms?
I'm not sure of your history but an MRI can be more diagnostic of adenomyosis (although not definitive). After struggling with this for a long time, I had my hysterectomy and the adeno was confirmed. I feel greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat now! The amount of weight I lost (all enlarged uterus) was astounding.... and I was thin to begin with.

Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms?
I had the ultrasounds-and I was in emergency at one point not able to stand the pain anymore where they did a cat scan. I also had an enlarged uterus, a tumor on my one ovary, adhesions and the beginning of endo...so for me it was the best decision-a lot of things that the dr didn't see on any of the tests.

Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms?
Please let me know if you relate to these symptoms?
-Cramping for a week before period
-Very difficult to sit all month long, but at period impossible
-difficult to walk because of sharp pains before and during period
-stinging pain in around left love handle(haha)
-lower back aching almost all month long
-left leg weak when pain is worse
-little man with pic axe on low left
-pulling sensation from hip on left
-cant stand up after using the bathroom
-Burning sensation all month long along pubic bone.
-hurts to laugh, cough and sneeze
-belly very swollen
-sleep on my back or on the couch reclining. Either side makes my uterus ache and the little man with the pic axe gets busy
- I havent had sex in months
During my period
I find one semi comfortable position on the couch in the reclining position and I dont move much for four or more days. No one sits on the couch or stomps their feet around me because I feel every vibration in my uterus.
I run a fever and am completely incoherent. I become white as a sheet and am out of breath. I have sharp pains that make me scream out and I try to avoid BM or gas on my period for this reason.
I want to know if any of you think changing an overnight pad four times or six times a day is heavy bleeding?
No clots. Only four small patches of endo.
Have had Lapro, colonoscopy, catscan, D and C with hysteroscopy. They say nothing noteworthy.
As the bleeding begins to taper I feel some pains going away, but then I begin to feel my uterus turning to wood and I feel very congested. At ovulation I have three days of pain similar to that at my period and I have to go to bed sometimes for a few days. Sometimes I spot.
My uterus is moderately enlarged. I cannot tolerate pelvis exams because of knife like pain
I know this is alot of info, but I would appreciate any feedback at this time. My hope is that you will be able to relate and that in turn will give me confidence. I appreciate you all so much and your help has always proved immeasurable. As Im writing this I think this Doctor is just blind. This is a long list of symptoms and problems all connected to my uterus. What else can it be?
Love, Butterfly

Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms?
wow...yes a lot of what you describe I had..but I think you have it worse. Have you thought of changing doctors? I had 3 docs in about 6yrs that all said "its normal for you" whatever that meant. I finally got a doctor-totally by chance because he took over the other docs practice because she-yes she moved. This dr told me right away what it could be. He was a bit difficult to judge at first, he's egyptian-not sure if that made a difference but he seemed to be more knowing and definatley more sympathetic than even the female dr or nps. I say get another opinion. you are in way too much discomfort.

That is awful and so much worse than I was. I dont blame you for not wanting the thing out! I cant imagine that there wouldnt be some improvement at least. I agree that you need a new doc. This one is allowing uneeded suffering.
