10 weeks post op Just wondering whats Normal whats not?

Hi I had a sah, uterus , polyps and fibroids removed Aug 4th 2009. I kept both my ovaries and cervix.. My doctor told me my cervix was large and he had to hollow it out and sew it up? Has anyone else been told this?? and then did work on my bladder which he tacked up to my pubic bone. Is this the reason Im so numb and swollen in this area??Well im 10 wks post op and went back to work (im a housekeeper) at 8 weeks starting with 1 house per week( takes me four hours to complete cleaning) and My tummy and lower pubic area is still numb and it still hurts/aches and swells. Is this normal or am I over doing things? I am trying to be alright with out any prescription pain meds but the over the counter just don t seem to be taking care of the pain...Can I call and ask for another perscription? Im kind of scared I really did pamper myself for 8 weeks, walked daily and I didnt have a choice but to go back to work when I did and am grateful I was able to wait that long.. Im just tired of hurting! Can someone please share with me what there experience was at this stage of the post op surgery, I would really appreciate it. Thanks
Karissa

Hi (((Karissa)))

It sounds like you are taking good care of yourself. That's great that you gave yourself that much time off before returning to work, and also that you started back so part time.

The numbness and swelling after activity are still very normal at this point. You may find that this happens after each work day for some time to come.

As far as the pain, you may want to discuss that with your doctor. Many physicians hesitate to prescribe anything really strong at this point, but perhaps they will suggest a strength/combination of otc meds that they think will be useful.

Keep taking such good care of yourself. All the best to you!

Housecleaning is hard work physically. I'm sorry you have to go through this. I don't know what to offer but that it's not odd that at 8 weeks housecleaning would cause you problems.

Take care,

Thank you ladies for replying to my concerns, this site has been a wonderful support during a time that is kind of scary, and at times painful. I called my doctor this morning and I am waiting to hear from him to talk to him about the pain. Take care and once again thank u...

Anytime. We are all here for each other. One more caution: don't take pain meds and then go do hard work. It will only trick your body into letting you do way too much and can injure you.

Take care,
