Do any of you have back pain and cramping with prolapsed uterus?

Hi fairly new here but am scheduled for TVH on Oct 26. He will also put in a bladder sling. Have tons of urge incontinence and bladder issues my whole life but this is my first surgery.
When I saw doc for pre-op I mentioned the almost constant back pain and cramping I am getting and he said he wasn't sure the surgery would fix that??

I have a previous back injury BUT this pain is lower and the cramping I am experiencing is very like period cramps.

He put in a larger pessary and that has helped some but not all.

Have any of you experienced this type of pain? Did it go away?

Frankly I am scared stiff of this surgery--I've never been knocked out with a breathing tube before so that frightens me

Also I am just so tired of being in pain, not to mention painful intercourse.

I am a teacher and moved up the surgery because of the pain.
I pray it will help!

Re: Do any of you have back pain and cramping with prolapsed uterus?

Hi BeGreen,
I am sorry to hear you are going through so much pain. I had a prolapsed uterus once also.I have since had it out. I did not have a sling put in. Didn't need it at the time I guess.I'm having a little bit of bladder issues now, 5 yrs later but vaginal estrogen seems to be helping with that slowly.

I had a feeling of pulling, sitting on a ball. and Yes, I am pretty sure my back hurt also. But I also have had a microdiscectomy at L4 L5 which is the same level that the nerves for the uterus and bladder come out of so i still have some pain and stiffness. I need to be doing my stretching exercises everyday or at least every other day and have not been good about them. I wish you the best for your surgery. two more weeks or so. Hang in there. maybe make some meals and frozen stuff so you can get some much needed rest after the surgery to heal. I know I didn't and it was very hard on me. I didn't look like I had surgery ( vaginal hysterectomy) and ppl said I looked fine. I didn't have any help. I would have treated myself better and let stuff go and *demand*help if I had it to do over.

You will feel "lighter" down there also. Is the dr. leaving your ovaries?

Re: Do any of you have back pain and cramping with prolapsed uterus?

Hi,
I had a tvt and a tvh. I only suffered from lower back pain when I would get my period every month. I did not have any prolapsed organs , but my uterus was enlarged and putting pressure on my bladder. I have had lower back and leg pain after the surgery, but around the 6 week mark it started getting much better. I also had mixed incontinence before the surgery. The urge has gotten better and at almost 3 months post-op I am able to hold my bladder for longer periods of time. I still am taking Enablex which helps alot. While I did not have an 100% improvement with the tvt surgery it is pretty close to it. I am happy I did the surgery. I have had a few bumps in the road along the way, but so far so good. Surgery of any kind is scary. I would say it is quite normal to be nervous. Try to put all your energy into getting your house and whatever room you will be in the most ready for when you come home. This web site has great tips and checklists of what to take to the hospital and what you will need at home. I am sure the doctors and nurses will take great care of you when in surgery. Be sure to follow all the doctors instructions before surgery and also think positive thoughts. Good luck , Karen
