Hyster with tummy tuck

After years of painful periods, heavy bleeding, and now 10-15 giant fibroids, my new OB/GYN has scheduled a hysterectomy for October 26.

I'm 47 years old, have no children, and don't desire to have any. The idea of never having periods again is thrilling, to tell the truth, but I really don't want to lose my ovaries. The surgeon says he won't know the condition of my ovaries until he can see them (the fibrods are so large and numerous, they blocked the view of other organs in the sonogram, MRI, or CT scans).

I figured that since I'll have a scar anyway, I can have a tummy tuck to finally get rid of that pooch of fat that I've always had. I know, it's vain, but like I said, I'll have a scar there anyway....and I had been saving up for some kind of nip/tuck, just not so soon.

Has anyone else had a tummy tuck with their hyster? I've been told that it's a very common procedure. But now that I'm getting close to the surgery date, I'm having second thoughts....

You're welcome to start new threads over on the Pre-Op message board so that members can respond to help with any concerns you have. There are Sisters who have had a hysterectomy and tummy tuck done at the same time so you're sure to be able to get input for concerns you have for that, too.
