Flu (kids mentioned)

Ok. I am freaking out. My son came home today w/102 fever and coughing. He is 9 and is coughing all over the place. Now my throat is sore. I am and have been terrified to get sick due to my incision. Who do I call if I get sick? My ob or the IM doctor? How do you make yourself not cough? I know I am over reacting I might not even get it, but I don't have much luck. The HB hides when anyone is sick and he is hiding now. I am mad. It would be easier for him to deal w/the little one then me. I do not have the sympathy right now for him and am not being the best mom possible. What to do?

Re: Flu (kids mentioned)

I am sorry you are having to deal with sick kids while you are healing! I too am a in a house of sick people while I am recovering! (I am 4 weeks today!! ) I wouldn't know whether to call your GYN or family doctor if you do get sick. I suggest washing your hand often and drinking plenty of water. And at my school (I am going for Medical assisting) they recommend gargling warm salt water. Drink plenty of fluids too. I hope you don't get sick. We have the H1N1 going through the house we are in right now.... yikes....

Re: Flu (kids mentioned)

My kids came home with a temp the week after my surgery and diagnosed with strep! Dont worry about it! Listen to Ms sarahW! I washed may hands Had some one come over and disinfect EVERYTHING! The kids were on antibiotics and were feeling better the day after, returning to school on antibiotics. I was never sick while they were! I had my mother in law take the kids to the doctor and pic up the scripts too. You are strong! It will pass as long as you wash your hands and drink plenty of fluids! ~HUGS~

Re: Flu (kids mentioned)

I have the swine flu now myself. It is going around our whole neighborhood. I hope that you stay well. If you start feeling bad I would call my general doctor & let him know what is going on. He may be able to call in something to help your symptoms. Best wishes.
