one month out and in PAIN

Had sugery on Oct 2nd with no complications and was feeling really great after, never needed any pain killers. 10 days later was raped had stitches torn, and now am being treated for a suspected infection. This is the third round of antibiotics and this time taking 4 different ones. Being this is the 3rd round in as many weeks, I wonder if there is something else going on.
The problem is I'm in pain. I'm taking tylenol 3 every 4-5 hours but, my left side and pelvic floor are constantly hurting and occasionally have sharp searing pains that would stop me in my tracks IF I were functioning enough to get up and move around. The Dr had CT, x-rays and sonogram done on Wed but I haven't heard anything back from him. Anyone else out there having the same pains or possible reasons?

Re: one month out and in PAIN

I am sorry to hear you had to go through so much. I hope you feel better soon. I had mine Oct. 1st. I still have pain but not like before. Wait for the test results. Maybe ask your doctor if you can take Acidophilus. Maybe all the antibiotics are messing things up more. Sorry again about what you had to endure.

Re: one month out and in PAIN

First of all, you were probably healing quite nicely until you were assaulted-I cannot believe that! My heart goes out to you. I hope your doctor has been kind in caring for you. More than likely it's disrupted the healing process and possibly torn or created additional injury inside. I would call your doctor for the results. What about taking Ibuprofen every 4 hours along with your Tylenol 3? It works differently and would reduce any inflammation or swelling. Are you able to take baths yet? If not-as soon as you're cleared for that-a good soak would probably do you good. I hope you get help and answers, and on the side-I know it's none of my business, but I hope the offender is brought to justice. NO ONE should EVER have to experience what you did. And surgery to boot. God bless you.

Re: one month out and in PAIN

Hoping4Happy,
The good new is yes yesterday FINALLY the detective assigned to the case came over to discuss options and if I wanted to press charges. Are you kidding me he dared to ask if I want to press charges?! Of course the choice was yes and an arrest warrent was sworn for the guy!
Medically, I can't take a bath, but I have an awesome massaging shower! I spend so much time in there I may as well be part fish already. I was taking Ibuprofen but ran out last night. I'll attempt later to pick up the refill, but even taking the duo wasn't making much of a difference. At this point I would love to hear the dr saying there is no more damage this is part of "normal" healing, or there is damage and he's going in to fix it. Either is fine with me as long as this stops soon! I can't take anything much stonger as I am a single parent and have to have my wits about my to make sure they aren't buring the house down. So lots of couch time and tylenol 3 to dull the pain until I hear from dr. Surely if there was anything significant I would have heard from him already right?

Re: one month out and in PAIN

locolela,
My heart goes out to you. No one should have to deal with all this. I would not assume that just because the doctor didn't call that everything is ok especially if you are in pain. Doctors are really great but they are also busy. Sometimes, they get so busy they forget to call you. If you are in this much pain, I would call him. Let him know what is happening so that he can assess the situation. Sometimes, we have to be a pain to the doctor to help us heal. I am praying for you for everything to work out. We are all here for you and sending you best wishes and hugs.

Re: one month out and in PAIN

Geez I hate talking to the on-call person! She tells me, as long as its managable keep taking tylenol 3. You may need to take two every 4 hours, rotating with Ibuprofen. Do they really think we don't already know this? I guess I'll have to resort to going to the hospital. The good thing is my dr is great and already wrote out physicians orders in case it got to that point when I las saw him on Wed, but I was really hoping to not go back!

Re: one month out and in PAIN

Locolela,
You shouldn't have to go back, but if that's the only way you can get the help you need, then please do it. Just don't drive yourself-do you have someone that can take you? Quite frankly, it'd be nice to see a house call made after all you've been through. Those were the days. I'm not sure how old your children are, but hopefully they are able to help with even small things.
God bless you.

Re: one month out and in PAIN

locolela,
I feel so bad for you. It really stinks when it feels like the only way to get help is to go to the hospital. I don't know if it is possible, but if there is any way you can get comfortable enough to be able to cope until tomorrow morning, you might be able to get your doctor to see you. Obviously, if the pain is too bad then go to the hospital. I am hoping and praying that you feel better and that the medicines start to work better. I hope it works out for you.

Re: one month out and in PAIN

Well I made it through the weekend without going in or calling my dr. I finally heard back from his nurse today and was told that all the test came back good and should clear up as the infection does and my body has time to heal more. So a high dose anti-biotic for 14 more days and then a low dose antibiotic for a few weeks. Uggg! Unfortunatly the dr still won't clear me for bath or my hottub. As long as I don't try to sit up for more than a few minutes then I don't hurt too much on the left side. I've realized the pelvis pain is linked to my bladder and BM's. Kinda gross but anyone else feel like their vagina is getting really full right before and during a BM?
To top it off its 48 degrees here I have the windows open and in biking shorts. I thought he said my hormone levels were in the normal range!!!
