Starting to panic about getting everything done

Today my hubby mentioned that we needed to clean the pool cartridge filters since we are planning on covering it this year for the first time. I freaked when I realized that my surgery is Nov 11 and I still have so much to do to get ready.

Last nite I did learn that friend of ours had a TAH 15 mos ago and she was feeling so much better just 2 weeks after which made me feel a lot better about things.

I'm going to bring my computer downstairs today so I don't have to worry about that during surgery I'm tring to stay calm but I'm stressing over cleaning the house

Re: Starting to panic about getting everything done

Bloo - I'm kind of right there with you. My surgery is 11/13 and I was telling my husband about the "things" I wanted to get done before....He is very calm and reasonable about things and calmly said "you're not moving to the moon, just relax and things will get done when they get done". He wanted to know why the house HAD to be cleaned before I went in....he can take care of it or it just isn't important enough to stress over.

You need to relax and have faith in those around you that "things" will get done...maybe not the way you would do them...but they will still get done.

Hang in there.....soon enough you'll be up and around and "back at it".

HUGS !!!

Re: Starting to panic about getting everything done

Do as much as you can than relax, I am post-op nine weeks and the dust bunnies i cleaned before the surgery were there after I was cleared for full duty. I learned that we should not stess the light stuff, to put up our capes ease into the surgery and revel in the six week break, though it may seem a little boring at times, i still take one day a week to recouperate.

Re: Starting to panic about getting everything done

I'm more stressed about getting all my WORK work done then my house stuff...I can always have a house cleaner come in...but that won't work for my biz. I have two speeches/presentations to do and several accounts to finish up before going in for surgery....that's my stresser ...getting my clients taken care of.

Re: Starting to panic about getting everything done

Hi - I has similar feelings before my surgery on Oct 7th. Because I own a business, I did extra knowing that I would be pretty useless the first week post op. I worked right up to checking into the hospital the morning of the surgery and put out an SOS to other business associates to cover my wey meetings for six weeks ( prepared mtg notes ahead of time). It has worked out and I have a very supportive husband and daughter still at home. Honestly, I am so glad that I was so busy because the waiting, along with the physical pain was just about unbearable. You can only take care of so much, the non critical stuff can just wait.

Best wishes for a uneventful surgery and a quick recovery

I'm with you on this one. I too have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I am scheduled for 11/18 and have a list a mile long.

Re: Starting to panic about getting everything done

My surgery is on the 11th as well and just like you I'm totally stressing out about everything that needs to be done.
Ive already planned out My xmas card list for when im stuck in bed and
tonight i went to the drug store and bought all of my necessities like maxi pads and magazines when suddenly i realized that i still needed to get my car serviced and find a floor guy to do our hard woods before Xmas... it's crazy stressful i know But just think the world will not come to an end if the pool cartridges don't get cleaned...
Try and relax because i hear that the healing goes much more smoothly on women who went in to surgery well rested.
Good luck to you Bloo! ~ Tracy

Re: Starting to panic about getting everything done

Ladies the wonderful thing about all of this is that although you are stressing about everything that you MUST DO before surgery, a lot of it you will not be able to do. I know it is hard, but RELAX, everything will fall into place. I learned to let the dust bunnies fly, and not to jump up everytime my DH wasn't using a coaster. The main thing is to prepare your recovery area, so that you have what you need during the recovery. This will be your time to vegitate and let others take care of you!
