vision/eye concerns

I finished radiation therapy about 3 weeks ago (both EBRT and brachytherapy) and was feeling pretty good.

However now my eyes feel dry (nose kind hurts too) and am thirsty.

Anyone else have similar symptoms? What do they mean?

Of course I fear the worst.

Re: vision/eye concerns

I did have dry eyes after radiation but I have suffered from that in the past and didn't connect it to the treatment.

My recommendation is to call the radiation department and ask to speak to one of the nurses. These people are very knowledgable and will usually be able to tell you whether something is serious or recommend some options.

Sending you a big hug.

Re: vision/eye concerns

For any sisters who may develop similar difficulties -- I consulted an eye doctor and learned that the hyst and the radiation contribute to dryness in the eyes (as well as other places). Since I wear contact lenses and they were not getting sufficient lubrication I had abraded my corneas.

I got a new type of contacts, have to wear them fewer hours, and have drops if needed. Seems to be working.

That explains why my eyes were so irritated!! My eye doc recently switched me to a different lens that is soooo much better than my old ones!

Re: vision/eye concerns

Just an addition from an older member... I wore contacts for years and as I approached menopause, I had to quit... No amt. of eyedrops seemed to help. It may also be from the radiation, but I experienced that problem prior to surgery. Oh, the changes....
