My Hysterversary
It has been one year since my hysterectomy and I honestly thought that at this point I would feel better then ever. NOT!! This has been one hell of a year. My first six months were painful and full of discomfort. This lead to a second surgery. Since my second surgery back in May, I have developed some serious depression.
I went for my yearly check-up and discovered I have gained 20 pounds since last year! OMG!!!! I look and feel horrible! Even though the pain and excessive bleeding are gone, I am starting to feel like this hysterectomy was a very bad idea.
I thought that since I kept my ovaries that weight gain and depression would not be a problem. Is this normal or is it just ME????

Re: My Hysterversary
I don't think it is just you with the weight gain or depression and moods. Ovaries sometimes don't do as well after the uterus is removed, and so there is imbalance in hormones which can effect moods, weight gain, libido, joint aches, etc.
I am sorry you are not feeling as good as you would like. You might talk to your doctor to see if he has some suggestions for help the depression and overall ill feeling.
Hang in there

Re: My Hysterversary
I know this is a shot in the dark, but you may also want to check your thyroid. It sounded a lot like me, the depression and weight gain, and also included "brain fog," "tingling toes," well...google the hypothyroid symptoms. Take care.

Re: My Hysterversary
I had my thyroid checked twice and was told everything was "normal". He did perscribe some anti anxiety medication which helps some. I don't have crying spells that much anymore, but I do still feel "blue" most of the time. He also told me exercise would help and I have started walking. I just can't quite put my finger on what is wrong with me and it's driving me crazy.
