Well I am 1 month Post Op today and I thought I was doing pretty well but please I need help I am having real trouble sleeping and I am still suffering from Gas problems and I am so uncomfortable all the time especially in bed. It was 5am before I actually got to sleep last night. I am also suffering really bad night sweats. Re: 1 month Post Op

I was having trouble sleeping too so I started to take Ambien (I only need half a one) and for the gas issues I use a colon cleanser and acai berry pills, cleans my system out so that I dont have a gas build up. I had a LSH on 9-29-09 and am still not back to "normal" I have tried to go without the ambien but I end up laying there until 5 in the morning and by then it is to late to take anything otherwise I will be asleep all day. Talk to your doc, sleeping issues and gas are very very common. take care let us know if this or anything else you try works

Re: 1 month Post Op

I hope the doctor was able to help you. I think the one thing I have learned is how common the insomnia is. I am also having a tough time with it. I see my doctor on Thursday. He gave me a prescription for AMbien. Tried 5mg. but was a zombie next day. Need something else. I hope you feel better.

Re: 1 month Post Op

you might want to try Benedryl ( or generic allergy medication known as diphenhydramine) to help you fall asleep. 25 to 50 mg is the usual dose for this purpose. It's over the counter and shouldn't turn you into a zombie. Of course you should probably run it by your Dr first.
good luck! ( I just took some as it's 2:40 am and I'm still awake too....)

Re: 1 month Post Op

Thanks for the tip. I found out last night by accident it worked well. I now have new food allergies and continue to develop more so always have my epi pen and benedryl present. After I ate some supper I began to cough and cough. I don't have a cold so realized that it was possible I was having an allergic reaction. Took benedryl and boy did I sleep. At least I got sleep last night. Less pain today too so maybe that is affecting my recovery.

Re: 1 month Post Op

I am the same as the first answer, I take a half an Ambein. It has helped & you do get back to normal eventually. As for the gas I would love the answer to that one. I still have gas pains although they are not as bad. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Re: 1 month Post Op

I discovered one thing that helps insomnia and that is total exhaustion. Slept well last night until 2:00 am and then had trouble the rest of the night. I did feel better today because I had gotten some sleep. I am really hoping the doctor has some ideas to help me. I really think this is slowing my recovery down. I hope everyone gets a good nights sleep tonight-me included.

Re: 1 month Post Op

I was thinking about trying the acai berry and colon cleansing products myself but had some questions. Two years into post op, I am still so tired. It says that the acai berry boosts your energy levels. Is this true? Also, is it ok to take the colon cleansing product every day? Just wanted to know what your experience has been.
