November 9th surgery and have the sniffles!

Hi Ladies!
My children were sick last week with what had seemed to be influenza. I was terrified that I too would become ill. It looked as though I was in the clear until yesterday morning; I woke up with a sore throat, headache and stuffy nose....no fever though. I know that I should probably comtact my doctor, but I'm nervous that she will postpone the surgery and when Nov. 9 comes I will feel fine. This is crazy! Do any of you know at what point they will not perform the surgery due to illness? Do the 'sniffles' qualify?

Re: November 9th surgery and have the sniffles!

I had a temp of 101, and got cancelled, in pre-op. I think she said aything less than 100, is ok, and as long as your lungs are clear. That maybe different for different doctors. I think you should call and see about getting Tamiflu, if your kids had the flu, or maybe you have a sinus infection, and need an antibiotic. It is better safe than sorry, give your doc a call.

I would suggest giving your doctor a call. It is possible you can be given meds now to help you get well before surgery. Trust me, your vitals are all checked as they are admitting you for surgery and if there are any signs that you are not well, you could be canceled then!
