Low grade fever?

I am 11 post-op. Still having low grade fever off and on every day since got home. I asked my Dr on last Monday when I had my 1 wk post-op ck. He said it was normal and not to worry. I is only 99.1 to 99.6 but just enough to make you feel bad. It makes me lay around even more. Is any one else experencign this? How long did it last?

Thanks for your advise

Low grade fever?

I did not experience this but I wanted to send this back up to the top to catch others attention.

I think that if your Dr said it was not a concern that you are just probably feeling the effects of the surgery. And you should be laying around as much as you can. Your body will love you for it in the long run.

Low grade fever?

I am 2 weeks post op and also have run a low grade fever every since having surgery. I called my dr about it last week and mentioned it again at my appointment yesterday. She too says not to worry about it unless it is over 100 degrees for 24 hours. My fever has been between 99.2-99.8 and as you say just enough to make you feel bad.

Low grade fever?

I ran an afternoon fever (right around 100) for the first six weeks of my recovery. It's only been the last couple of weeks that I haven't had my afternoon fever.

In most cases the low grade fever is just a sign that your body is working hard to recover and wants you to rest a little more.

Of course, I'm not a doctor so my thoughts are just based on personal experience, not professional knowledge.

BEST OF LUCK!

Low grade fever?

I too had low grade for a couple weeks. Doc says it was normal as long as it does not get much over 100.

I rested a lot and it eventually stopped. Keep drinking h2o and resting and it will get better!

Low grade fever?

Yep, a low grade fever is normal after surgery. It's your body's way of healing the surgery site. Rest and take Tylenol, it should go away soon. No need to worry unless the fever spikes or you develop other symptoms such as pus or pain and redness around the incision.
