horrifying pain after intercourse 8 weeks post hysto

Hello, after dealing with endometriosis for seven years, finally made the decision to have a hysterectomy on Sept. 2, 2009. I had intercourse last night and experienced pain so excruciating that I cannot explain. After taking Ibuprohen and Tylenol PM, I felt some relief but still have some pain. I am seeking to find some advice!

Hi Ceejai If the pain was that excruciating, I think you need to call your DR and have your vaginal cuff looked at before attempting intercourse again.

Yes, if it was that bad after 6 weeks you do need to call the doctor. Discomfort is one thing but pain is another. Is it possible you hurt something? Are you bleeding? I wish you the best but I would get checked out right away.

I am SOOO sorry you experienced SO much pain and discomfort after your 1st attempt!

I do agree with the previous ladies about talking to your Dr.; however I'm hoping it is nothing serious.

I do want to share my experience, so you realize you are not alone!:

I also experienced severe endo pain (and later adenomyosis) pain for about 9 yrs. before my surgery in July'09....although I was given green light for sex after 6 weeks, I didn't have the courage to attempt anything until about week 8. Once I did...OH MY GOSH!!!! Severe pain, discomfort, difficulty walking afterwards, etc. (and although we were gentle, and used plenty of lube...nothing seemed to help )

So...after being checked by my Dr. and not finding anything wrong, I felt "very" dissapointed (especially after reading that many ladies on this site were experiencing GREAT sex afterwards...(which I'm happy for!!)...however that still didn't make MY experience any better.

So, with the support of many on this site, and with LOTS of patience...we have "slowly" gotten back on track!! (Not as I would like-but getting each time better...) Sorry if its TMI, but just want to help!:

I need to be "very" relaxed and make an effort to set the mood, environmentally, mentally and physically: we use TONS of lube, do TONS of massaging "everywhere" and slowly move on...most of the times its successful, but there have been times I feel a bit of discomfort...It's been a little over 3 months for me, and I've just learn to listen to my body. It's actually helped us "reconnect" all over again and one of the things we've gotten out of this experience is there has been much more cuddling than before!

Just listen to your body, don't rush into things and remember you are NOT alone!

I just went through the same thing the other day!!!!!!! I did a post on it. I called my Dr. and went into get checked out and it turns out I had a vaginal cuff infection and a bladder infection.... MAKE SURE YOU CALL THE DR. PLEASE!!!! I thought it was maybe normal but then decided better and phoned in sooo glad I did and this was all caught early!!! He thought the intercourse bugged the infection so much that it caused me sever pain it was horrible.... I wasnt in any pain before hand so I had no idea I had any infection much less 2!!
