Changed to Estradiol

I switched from the Vivelle dot about 1 month ago to 1mg estradol. I didn't feel like the patch was helping me. I haven't slept a whole night in months, my hot flashes are killing me and I have quite a nasty attitude! HELP!!! I'm going back to the MD tomorrow to see if he will increase my dosage. I asked about progesterone cream before but was discouraged. My worst problem right now is the no sleep thing. I wonder if I should press the issue on the progesterone? And I had also lost quite a bit of weight before my surgery. Since then, I have put back on 20 lbs, very discouraging. It seems like I can't get my energy back that I had pre-op. It's almost like my body feels foreign to me. Is that crazy or what? I am 6 months post-op and I still don't feel like the old me, beginning to think that I never will. I do hope this gets better!

Re: Tell me about Estradiol...

I know exactly what you mean.....I have not felt like myself since my surgery 6 months ago. I even told my husband last night that this is the first time in my life I've felt old....with all the hormone problems it really starts to drag you down. I'm on a low dose Dot 0.025 because everything was giving me migraines (never had them before). I'm much better on the Dot, no migraines, hot flashes are getting to be less and less. I do take progesterone at night, creme form....My Dr. who is also a hormone specialists tells me that progesterone is the Calming hormone and it helps a lot of people sleep better, so YES press the issue. You can actually buy the creme over the counter from any drug store. It will get better, it's just a lot of trial and error getting the right mix. My next Dr. visit is scheduled for the end of the month and the Dr. wants to also put me on Testosterone, which she states gives us the feeling of well being??? so we will see, good luck
