A young friend of mine can't take HRT because she's had a blood clot and she said her Dr. said to drink 8-11 oz. of soy milk a day. The first night I drank some, I didn't have a night sweat that night. But, since then I've been reading it's not good for women. So, is it or not?
Soy has estrogenic qualities, thus if you are prone to clotting it is usually not recommended. That doesn't necessarily mean it is not safe for those without any health issues. I drink soy milk daily, not for menopausal reasons, but because I am lactose intolerant. I also eat soy cheese. Everyone should check with their own doctor as to what is okay for them.
