First week back to work
Hello Ladies,
I just finished my first week back at work. In the begining I thought maybe this wouldn't be so bad. I do just sit behind a desk all day. But today is Friday and the tired has caught up. I feel like I am starting all over with my exhaustion. I also wore jeans today for the first time in a month and I can't say I recommend that. I did bring extra clothes just in case I could't deal with it. I ended up changing my pants at lunch. I bent over to put my shoes back on and, HOLY CRAP, one of my incisions had a ripping feeling. I looked at it and it looks fine but it sure did hurt. Then I went into cry mode for about 30 min. Someone please help me. What am I suppose to do about being tired when I have to be at work. And no I can't work half days. I have been wearing scrubs but I am so tired of not wearing my normal clothes. I just thought if I could wear normal clothes I would feel better. That was a bust. Sorry for the rant but I needed to get that out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: First week back to work
It does take some time to get back into the swing of things when you return to work. It is hard and you have my sympathy. It will get better with time and right now you need to be kind to yourself and rest after work and don't expect to feel like you did pre op. Peace

Re: First week back to work
Hi orchidlady1
I thought my first week back at work was as bad as my first week post-op. In fact, I know I posted a thread at the time where I was babbling about how tired I was!
My advice is to rest as much as you can every evening and most of the weekend. Let other people cook, carry laundry, and shop for you. When you're home, recover from work. If it's possible to work just part-time for the next week or two, that might help you make the transition back more smoothly.
 It will get better.

Re: First week back to work
Wow you gals are scaring me about going back to work. I am at my six week mark today and I am not back to work due to the fact that I still have the hemotoma and still having some pain. I was advised not to go back to work because it would cause me even more pain. I have my own cleaning business and thank god my partner is handling things along with her husband. However I am planning to go back next Friday because I am going stir crazy. I hope I can handle it. But after reading this I will take your adivse. D'Lorah I hope you feel better after getting rest over weekend

Re: First week back to work
I was really tired my first week back to work - came home each night and sat down and that was IT for the evening - however, I did sleep really, really well. Second week was easier, this is my 3rd week back and I feel great, almost 100% - also had my final check up Wednesday and I'm cleared - no restrictions - just the occasional twinge and still tired sometimes - but not too bad all in all.
hang in there! relax as much as possible over the weekend

Re: First week back to work
I am so sorry that you had such an exhausting week, but over time it will get better. However, be careful bending over, even to tie your shoes. If you can sit, then do so, because you're still healing inside.

Re: First week back to work
 orchidlady -
Oh wow does that sound familiar. At least my first two weeks were exhausting, luckily I could work 1 day at work and 1 day from home and alternate. So I could rest when necessary. When I came home I would just look at my DH and say "what's for dinner" luckily we still had frozen left overs that people dropped off.
I did normal clothes but would get the swelly belly thing for several weeks. In the afternoon the waist on my pants was driving me crazy. So good thing to bring things to change into. It will get better but as Fritzi says rest at night and on weekends as much as you can. You are past initial recovery but not through full recovery yet.

Re: First week back to work
Hang in there, brave Orchidlady - you went back to work really soon (I am nearly 2 weeks behind you and still have another badly-needed week off!), so no wonder you feel tired.
