Liquid glue on incision instead of staples

Hi - I'm 10 days post-op and I'm wondering if anyone else had the liquid glue on the their TAH incision instead of staples? I'm not sure what's going to happen with it, and it's beginning to make me a little nervous. The doc said that it would just dissolve over time and that I'm fine to shower, etc. (which I've been doing), but nothing is dissolving yet for sure, it's really hard.

Thanks for anyone else who's had this and can tell me what happened with it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey Laura,

I had a LSH (uterus only) on 10/9. My doc used the glue on my incisions. It does dissolve over time. Actually, the glue that had been in my belly button finally popped out on my week 5 anniversary. I'd really been wondering about that one because I'd known it was still there (I could feel it), but I didn't want to mess with it. It came out on its own, tho'.

So don't worry about the glue ... it really did work well.

Have a great Turkey Day!

i also have the glue...shocker that I am feeling around for any stitches and the nurse tells me that the doc used durabond glue. that makes me a little uneasy to just think about being glued back together!! I hope that stuff works really good. I guess time will tell eh?

I'm just a few days ahead of you with surgery on 11/16. Will keep you up to date if you will tell me if anything changes with you. It's very odd to be super-glued, huh?

Hi transcriberchik,

I'm nearing my 7 week post-op, and just saw my doc last Friday for the 6 week check-up. He was really happy with how my incisions healed. I never had any issues with the glue not holding. My only concern had been whether or not it would ever get out of my belly button.

Rest easy and heal well!

Re: Liquid glue on incision instead of staples

I had a LAVH and my doc used glue on the three incisions I had on my tummy. The belly button one came off on it's own (well, with a little help from me because it itched like CRAZY!) but the other two stayed glued until my 2 week post-op appointment. She used adhesive remover to get those taken care of for me. When you go in for your follow up your doc will probably do the same thing!! Just relax and focus on healing.

Re: Liquid glue on incision instead of staples

Hi, Sun - How long did it take to dissolve? Do you remember? I'm grateful for no staples, too, but just don't know what to expect it terms of timeline.

Thanks!

Re: Liquid glue on incision instead of staples

I also had glue. It will go away on its own. My doctor at 2 weeks post-op told me that I could actually start scrubbing it lightly to get it off. It usually lifts up at the ends first.
