I Did Some Pre-Op Shopping!!

Hello Sisters,
Yesterday dh & I went shopping... It was nice, considering I really
don't care too much for shopping I was like a kid during the holiday shopping season ... Although there's some things on my list that I didn't pick up, today I'll complete the rest, early...before all the shop-a-holics arrive, LOL... My dh asked me
why did I need a pillow, when I told him he just started to LOL in
the store (real cute) hehehe... I'm really having alot of lower back
pain, but dealing with it, and of course will relax today with a very
good Holloywood Video & some delicious popcorn. Thanks to all
you sisters for your support & I love this site...
Have A Wonderful Day!

I Did Some Pre-Op Shopping!!

Dear Michelle,

I also started my shopping a couple of weekends ago, and like yourself hate to have to do any shopping, and found out that by just buying some extra large panties, pj bottoms, bathrobe and slippers, that it was like a calming effect!! Now two weeks later and only about 2 1/2 to go wonder when I will have time to finish the shopping, clean the house and still find some time to have some fun!!

What size pillow did you end up getting, because I am definately going to get one for the car and the hospital. Good luck avoiding the "hoards" today!!

I Did Some Pre-Op Shopping!!

Glad to see you will be having some help when you come home! Do you have young children?? I will be on my own after 3 days due to hubby has to go to work and both kids at college. My Mom lives in SC and did offer to come help but she and my dad are both elderly and I didn't want to put any strain on them, so I will putt putt around on my own!! Once I come downstairs in the morning I will stay put until someone comes over to help me back!! Don't you find it wierd to be planning on being absoulutly useless!! That is something that will be so hard to deal with!!!
By the way, why the tushie pillow are you having repairs there??
Have a great one!

I Did Some Pre-Op Shopping!!

Michelle. I remember pre-op shopping well Don't forget slip on (non skid) slippers and chapstick and/or lip balm Prepare your home recovery room too...for that I bought extra batteries for channel changer and cordless phone, stamps, thank you cards etc. Another item that I used ALL the time was a hand held yahtzee game.

Sounds like you're getting prepared!!!

preparing for post op

Brenda
I'm concerned about your being alone after 3days.
Do you mean 3 days post-op or 3 days after you come home from the hospital? If you mean 3 days post op, I urge you to reconsider being alone all day. You may need help for the smallest things......having someone help you up to the bathroom,
giving you pain meds, even helpingyou to re-position yourself.
If you are referring to 3 days after you return home I still think
you shouldn't be all alone all day. Is there a neighbor that can pop in when needed? And your parents, even though they are elderly, would be of much help.....not to mention the company.
I had SAH on 9/4. I'm very stoic, very stubborn, a very high pain threshold and I'm an RN!! I needed every bit of help I received.

Hope all goes well. Be good to yourself. This is one time you really deserve and require some serious pampering.

I Did Some Pre-Op Shopping!!

Dear Suelyn,

I was talking when I come home, having surgery on a Wed. (My birthday!) and would be left home alone starting the following Tuesday, so that will be about a week post op. I live out in the boonies but I do have a neice that will be able to come over in an emergency!! Thanks for your concern, I have gone through so many surgeries that its unfortunate that I know what my limitations are going to be, but I am definately older this time around.

I will take good care of myself and if I am doing badly at that point, I promise!!! I will have someone around!!!

Hi Michelle--- Don't forget to go to the mall and find a shop the teenagers like call Claires and Icing. They have PRINCESS stuff.
Furry sleepmasks in bright aqua and pink that say princess on them. They also have princess pillowcases and princess pillows.
Not to mention all other sort of stuff with princess on them. A must for all of us Princesses.
