Cervical Stenosis and da Vinci

Hi.

I am really new to all of this. I have done a lot of research, but still do not have all the answers that I am comfortable with.

Is there anyone out there who has large fibroids 10cm and 2 12 cm, with cervical stenosis who had the da Vinci hysterectomy? I would like to know how their procedure was performed, the recovery process and setbacks if any at all.

Thanks.

Lisa

Re: Cervical Stenosis and da Vinci

I had the DaVinci procedure not due to fibroids but due to severe endometriosis throughout my uterus, cervix and abdominal area. My surgeon is one of the first to do it in our area. Prior to surgery, he was concerned about scar tissue and other complications. It went very well for me.
I have multiple other medical problems including Crohn's, Interstitial cystitis, ibs, and gerd to name a few so have had setbacks due to this. I am now recovering. I think that the problems I have had are related to those medical diagnosis as well as exposure to Hepatitis A which landed me in the hospital for almost two weeks. I think you will find that I am the exception to the recovery for most people with this. My doctor said repeatedly that these conditions increased my risk for problems. Luckily nothing major but it did take me a long time to recover. Everyone is different and yes I would do it again in a heartbeat despite my setbacks.
Sending you hugs and best wishes. the other thing I would do is talk to your doctor. I did this quite a bit prior and he made me very comfortable. Hope you are enjoying the holidays.

Re: Cervical Stenosis and da Vinci

Iushus,

I had many fibroids. The two largest were larger than yours. I had the DaVinci. As a matter of fact, my surgeon told me My fibroids were so large, I was almost counted out as a candidate for the DaVinci. I had surgery a few weeks ago, and I have not had any setbacks. The procedure seems like a distant memory, but I would have this procedure again in a heartbeat!
