Possible cystocele ???????
Hello - just thought I would advise that have just been to the doctor following my previous thread about pain as if Id been "kneed in the private area". Hoping hoping it was a UTI but Dr. has said it is almost def. a cystercele - am so upset ! have to see my Well Woman GP on the 11th December - to have a internal examination. Feel so depressed - feels so uncomfortable - and having googled it - may have to have another operation and be out of action AGAIN.
So sorry to be so depressed about this - but thought after this hysterectomy - would feel great now this.
Has anyone out there suffered anything similar.
Thankyou so much.

Re: Possible cystercele ???????
Tumble, unfortunately you are not alone. I've heard of many women dealing with prolapses after their hysterectomies....although not as soon as this. I'm only about a week ahead of you in recovery from the hysterectomy and I have been diagnosed with both a cystocele and rectocele. I am currently on an anti-spasmodic med to address some pelvic spasms which have been causing quite a bit of pain and discomfort. Once these are under control my gyn and I are going to discuss surgical options for the prolapses.
It's normal for you to feel depressed....at least I hope so because I feel the same way.
I haven't been able to return to work yet because of all the pain and discomfort and, like you, thought things would be so much better after the hysterectomy.
Things WILL get better, at some point, I know....it's just hard to not be able to get back to life like we thought we would.
Take care. Hang in there. Keep smiling. Let me know how you're feeling.
Kelly

Re: Possible cystercele ???????
Hi Kelly, Thankyou so much for your reply. I have been incredibly down about this - and your reply has cheered me up no end to know that I am not alone with this.
The Dr. said today it had absolutely nothing to do with the hysterectomy procedure - in fact he said it will probably have helped the situation. It is all to do apparently with having given birth to heavy babies (although admittedly they are now 21 and 16 years old !!!!). Am confused - why should this now happen?.
Will try to be positive - my main gripe before was swelly belly - now somehow this has put things into proportion.
Oh dear - I don't want to depress everyone.
A big cyber hug from me - thankyou. You take care too Kelly!.

Re: Possible cystercele ???????
My gyn said it had nothing to do with the hysterectomy as well; however, depending on what sites you "google" for information, having had a hysterectomy can be a contributing factor. Although I respect my gyn and have been his patient for 30 years (first visited him at age 15 for endometriosis), I tend to think the prolapses are related to the hysterectomy......I had absolutely no symptoms prior to the hysterectomy and just find it too much of a coincidence that these appeared after the surgery. I had two vaginal births 12 and 16 years ago and both of my babies were around 7 lbs so not "heavy babies" at all.
I found it interesting that your doctor said the hyst might have helped the situation....what did he mean by that?
What symptoms are you experiencing now?
Kelly

Re: Possible cystercele ???????
Hi girls, I am new here. I have a question that I know should be directed at my Dr., but you how us women are, wanting the advice from other women first before anything! I had a hysterectomy in September this year for my third endometriosis. I came to HysterSisters hoping to find some answers about my post op concerns. Lately I have had almost the same pain as before my surgery! A painful pressure feeling during and after intercourse. I am puzzled, because you know all that was SUPPOSE to go away after surgery! Well now after reading your post, Tumble, I am questioning the thoroughness of my diagnosis. Do you guys think that could have also been a problem of mine and they didn't catch it? I am just dreading going to the doctor, because I don't want to have another surgery...this girl has had too many in this lifetime! Thank you!!

Re: Possible cystercele ???????
Hi Kelly in answer to your reply: -
*I am experiencing a dragging sensation around the vagina/pubic bone area.
* A feeling of when I go to the wee - there is a feeling that I haven't properly finished.
* Feeling of nautiousness.
* When I am standing/and even sitting it is very uncomfortable (again very apparent dragging/bruised sensation).
* As explained before feel as if I have been "kneed in the private area" and am bruised/or as if I have been riding on a horse for the day and get off (as if I have never riden before sorry hope that makes sense!)
When the doctor examined my tummy today I felt as if I was dying to go the wee - and that my bladder was full to bursting but in fact I didn't need to go for about an hour after examination. Also urine speciment tested negative for UTI
The doctor said that the hysterectomy would have helped my condition because of the heaviness of the uterus.
Really am flumaxed here. I have to wait until the 8th December to have an internal examination - but already am extremely anxious - and if I had the money would like to go private to put my mind at rest ! Chicken egg situation here as I need to be at work to take my mind off things (plus my colleagues are brilliant) but have this continuous dragging sensation to contend with.
I guess I will have to be patient here.
Kelly is this similar to your symptoms - would be very interested to know.
Thankyou.

Re: Possible cystercele ???????
Hi Leslie,
Wish I could advise you. Interesting to note you had your op the same day as me. I know exactly what you mean about another OP I am scared stiff by the thought (and also time off away from work and generally the recovery) but personally speaking if there was an op to make me feel better which they offered me next week I would take it with open arms.
Please (as this is what I would do) sit down and write down all your health concerns for when you visit the doctor and insist on an internal examination then and there. My GP refused as he said I had to wait to my appt. on the 8th Dec. at the Well Woman clinic.
Please let us know how you get on.

Re: Possible cystercele ???????
I didn't even realize we had the same Op date. Well, thanks for the reply. I am just so sick of my life filled with pain. I have two children, four and almost ten. With my "menopausal" symptoms since surgery and now this, I have not been a happy person to live with. I will let you know how things go, and I hope you get to feeling better as well.
Thanks,
Leslie

Re: Possible cystercele ???????
Tumble, I'm sure you are very anxious for Dec. 8 to get here!
My symptoms are severe pressure/fullness in the vaginal/anal area....much worse as the day goes on. I can't walk or stand for any length of time as the discomfort gets much worse. Sitting on hard chairs is basically out of the question right now. I also have a burning sensation in my vaginal area which often feels like the "crowning" feeling when giving birth. Constipation has also been an issue.
My gyn doesn't think these symptoms are from the rectocele and is sending me to another specialist.
Leslie, hang in there. It is difficult to consider another surgery so soon, but if that's what it will take to help, it might be a viable option. Hoping you get some answers soon
