if blood tests come back with elevated levels of AST is the surgery still performed?

What is AST?

Because I had pre-op bloodwork yesterday and was told I have elevated white blood cells and they are sending me back 3 days before surgery for my bloodwork. I will be majorly bummed if they cancel on me!
