Loss of libido

Hey ladies,
It has been so long since I posted on this website but I see not much has changed since my surgery in 2001. It took me so many years to come to acceptance over the loss of my libido, less than satisfying orgasms etc.., but I guess that since there doesn't seem to be any viable alternatives, for me, acceptance is the only way I can emotionally handle the loss of my wonderful sexual health. Of course if I had a do over I would not be here at all. I am still so sad when I hear your stories but it comforts me to know that I am not alone and not crazy. I still pray for the day they will come up with a viable solution to our problem. For me, sharing my experience with my friends who are considering the surgery is the only way I can feel that any good thing has come out of this decision that I made.

God Bless you all.

Re: Loss of libido

(((charsky))), I'm sorry that you find yourself in the same situation as many others on this site.

Sharing your experiences is important because women need to know that sexual dysfunction can be a possible consequence of surgery, so good for you for being honest to share that information with your friends. You are also welcome to share your experiences on this site with members in the Hysterectomy Options and Alternatives and Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forums where the question of how surgery may affect one's sex life is frequently asked.

If you have approached this topic with your doctor and feel that you haven't gotten help, you can try another doctor. Perhaps hormone therapy would be beneficial if you're a candidate to use it. For me it has been the answer to my own sexual dysfunction. Maybe you qualify to be part of a study such as the Bloom Study.

I'm sending s!

Re: Loss of libido

Hi,

I had endometriosis blood was stuck to all my organs, thus, I required surgery that took out my ovaries, tubes, cervix and uterus at 35 yrs. old. That was 31 years ago.
Several years later I could not figure out why I could not have an orgasm and felt very tired. It was suggested that I see an endrocronologist who deals with hormones.
The doctor found I had no testostorone. Since I started taking the testostorone I have some arousal but I find it hard to have an orgasm....it's like I have no feeling in my vagina. Does anyone else have this problem.

I'd love to hear from you.

Take care and good luck.
Mary

Re: Loss of libido

I hear you Charsky! After my surgery I was so happy to be relieved of pain, that libido issues were not an issue a the time. But as time goes by, I do miss the libido I had prior to surgery. I have no problems reaching orgasm and having the same intensity, but sex is on my "to do" list along with laundry, grocery shopping etc. I just lost the drive!
Going to give compounded test a try.Just started this week on a low dose.

Re: Loss of libido

I am 6 mths. out and also do not have any desire for sex. The pain has gone and in my head I want to have sex but my body doesn't cooperate. Hubby is understanding. I don't let on that I have NO desire but I figure after 30 yrs. of marriage I will try and find a middle ground.
