moderate bladder prolapse what can i do to help myself?
Hi just been diagnosed with a moderate bladder prolapse. I need some questions answering if anyone can help?
1) would pelvic floor excercises help at this stage? would it still continue to worsen? Should i be lifting normally.
2) i has a constant dragging burning feeling which is very unfortable when sitting - any advice to alleviate apart from standing all day lol which i seem to be doing.
3) The pessary - does it help? i may have to consider it till i can get surgery.
4) what happens if my prolapse isnt bad enough for
surgery - and the pessary is no good?
5) Anyone tried the "first aid video" to aid prolapse?
6) is it my fault its happened so soon after surgery? or would it have anyway.
7) is surgery going to resolve my issues - its seems like a minefield of dilemmas to me...... if anyone can help itd be great.

Re: moderate bladder prolapse what can i do to help myself?
I don't think pelvic floor exercises will help. I first noticed my prolapse 2 years ago and my Dr sent me to a physical therapist who taught me to do kegels correctly and also had me do several other exercises. I did the exercises religiously but no change in prolapse and then stress incontinence got worse and worse. Had hyster, TVT and bladder sling 8 days ago.
Both my doc and surgeon told me about the pessary but then added that it wasn't a good option for someone my age (52).

Re: moderate bladder prolapse what can i do to help myself?
holly999,
Thanks for posting your list of questions. I have many of the same questions.
I also have minor to moderate bladder prolapse. My gyn suggested pt. I went, wanted to make sure I was doing the pelvic floor exercises correctly. I learned some good techniques. Doc also gave me a pessary. The pessary seems to be useful, when I don't wear it I notice more prolapse.
My prolapse may be getting slightly worse but I'm not to the point of considering surgery yet. I'm thinking the exercises and the pessary are slowing the prolapse but who knows. I too wonder if its possible to stop this from worsening. I do lots of abs classes and yoga to keep me strong, particularly my core muscles. I hope they are good for me, not making things worse. Lifting normally???
I use Femring for my systemic estrogen. It seems to do a good job with keeping the local area well estrogenized. I think that's important. The healthier the vaginal walls, the stronger. Pills nor patches helped me with vaginal issues. Has your doc suggested any vaginal estrogen? It may be of some use with the discomfort.
Maybe someone will come along and help us with our questions.

Re: moderate bladder prolapse what can i do to help myself?
I had a minor bladder prolapse and burning while sitting, but my burning, pressure sensation turned out to be vaginal driness. I could see the bladder bulging some, and would have sworn the discomfort came from that.
But the very first night of premarin cream was a huge relief, and I no longer have that discomfort.
My cystocele was stage I, and I had no leaking or other bladder problems, so he only repaired my stage II rectocele.

The work you've done on your pelvic floor muscles will pay off if and when you have surgery. The tissue that the surgeon has to work with will be in a better condition than it other wise would have been and when it is all repaired, you joined up pelvic floor will work better.
