Hey, July sisters!

Hi, sisters! I had my TAH with R ovary removed on July 17. It's been 10 weeks now. I was wondering how all my July sisters are doing. I still feel twinges once in a while, and I think I tire out a little easier, but for the most part feel pretty good. I am also losing my hair like crazy! :hair: I still have an ovary, but maybe it is hormonal......or just all the stress on my body (I broke my knee cap 3 weeks after my hyst, and went right back in the hospital to have it fixed, it's still not better). Let me know how you are all doing and if any of you are also losing hair.

Thanks,

Too young

sister sister...

I was only three days after ..July 20...mmm...doing pretty good...not on the hyster sister much anymore...no time!!!..Terrible...you can hardly wait to get back to work, and when you do...it's just that!...work...harder than before...it's exhausting..and this week I finally thought I was getting the hang of it all, and I am totally exhausted at the end of the day...to the point of almost crying I am soooo overtired....you??...and I would love to get back to my running, but I have a hard time just going for a twenty minute walk without getting tired..and yes!...I was told I couldn't do ANY type of impact exercising for six monthes!!!!eeekkks...didn't realize that!...gonna go into depression for that one...but I am probably going to deal with the tiredness for a while anyway, so I won't even notice!!!!!
But all in all, feeling pretty good, still get MAJOR swelly belly, and lots of little twinges and stuff....but better and better each week!!...Take care all!!! and have a good day...I'm off to work for the day!!!

Hey, July sisters!

Hey, I am a July 30th sister. I am doing just great!!! Not loosing my hair, thank goodness. I am back to work full time, daycare, and I have more energy now than I did before the hyst. A lot of my friends say I am much happier and it is good to see me smile again. I am back to playing volleyball twice a week and doing Tae Bo about 3 days a week. My doc cleared me at 6 weeks but I wasn't ready until about 7. This is truly the best thing for me, I am so glad I did this and so is my family. Hope all gets even better for all of you! I also celebrated by getting my belly button pierced at 4 weeks post. I hardly have any swelly belly anymore. And I owe a good portion of my great recovery to the info on this site. Take care.

Hey, July sisters!

Hi everyone,

My surgery date was also 7/30. I went back to work part time on Monday. I can just barely manage it I get so tired.

My doctor also cleared me for aerobics, yoga, and sculpting class. Somehow they seem easier than work!!! I can make it through a 1-hour step class if I go VERY SLOWLY. Amazing, given how tired work makes me. I have a professional-type desk job.

I have some twinges and swelly belly at the end of the day. As far as the hair loss--that started about 8 years ago. Probably part of peri-menopause. Find out if any of your relatives had hair loss when they hit middle age. (My grandmother did). If so, Rogaine really does work.

Regards to all,

Iggie

Hey, July sisters!

Hello, I had my TAH BSO July 12th. My recovery was pretty uneventful. I went back to work at 7 weeks (desk job) and could not believe how tired I was at the end of the shift. Still do not feel up to doing all the housework and working. My hair seems to fall out for a while and then stop and then start again. I think it could be from the surgery and adjusting to the hormones. I still have twinges and this week developed a bladder infection. Ouch! All in all I still feel better than I did before surgery. So good to hear everyone is getting their lives back.

Hey, July sisters!

I had my LAVH/BSO and gallbladder surgery on July 24. I feel better now than I have in years! I had been fighting gallbladder disease and fibroids for many years. I think I forgot what it felt like to feel good. I haven't even had to take any pain meds since day 5 post op. I went back to work teaching special education part time at 3 1/2 weeks and full time at 4 weeks. I was SO tired and had major swelly belly at first, but that is now better. I still have some minor aches and twinges, but they don't last long.

Having this surgery was the best thing I have done. Life is good again!!

July 30- losing hair, too

Hi Everyone,

I'm feeling worse now than I thought I would at this point. I'll start off full of energy and do "normal" things and then just crash. Moved furniture last Sat. and have been really hurting since then. My mind tells me that I'm back to normal but my body says otherwise. Yuck!

My hair has been falling out in handfulls since about 3 wks. after surgery. I thought it may be the testosterone in the Estratest I'm taking... I hope it's not, though, because I like the way I feel on this HRT. Hope the extreme hair loss will stop soon.

I'm surprised that one of us can do high impact exercise! Whoa! I was walking the dog and had to run across an intersection unexpectedly...about killed my inners! All I can say is "Go, Girl!"

Keep in touch, everyone!

Hey, July sisters!

Toots, I'm not on hormones (maybe causes hair loss?) and I'm only 31 so I really haven't hit perimenopause. I still have an ovary that i think is working.....no hotflashes or other signs of menopause.

Iggie, do you think Rogaine would be for me or is this just a hormonal change? I also lost hair after having my babies. Maybe it is all hormonal even though i have an ovary still. Maybe I should ask my doc. What do you think?

Lets keep in touch!

Hi July Sisters

I'm not a July sister but just happed to read this post. I am 34 and noticed around age 30 that I was losing hair. I was at a total loss!!! I started doing some research because initially I was scared I would go bald or something!! After seeing a couple of doctors and discussing it...........believe it or not (it's truly a Ripley's!).......my gyn suggested checking my thyroid. It was hypothyroidism. There are a lot of other symptoms for hypothyroidism but wanted to make sure you don't rule this possibility out. Good Luck ladies!!
