Going back to work even when not ready??

I am so sad because due to unforseen financial problems, I have to go back to work earlier than expected. I am going for a 3 week post op appt next Tuesday and I am going to ask my Dr. to release me from my FMLA. I work at a job where I sit and type for 8 hours so, hopefully, it won't be so bad. I don't feel I'm ready to go back physically or mentally but I don't have a choice. Is there anyone else out there that went back to work before they were ready??

Yes, I had to go back at 2 weeks after laparoscopic surgery. I own my own business and actually have over 2,000 of my own patients. I had to do my best mentally and physically and rest as much as possible.

Re: Going back to work even when not ready??

I own my own biz and went back after just 3 weeks...I did go back 3/4 the first week but after that it's been pretty much "back to normal". I had a TVH on 11/13 and I'll be 6 weeks post op on Christmas and I feel GREAT.

Can you go back 1/2-3/4 time the first week and ease into full time??

Good luck and try and enjoy the holidays.

Re: Going back to work even when not ready??

Unfortunately I think a lot of us have had to return to work earlier than expected. Try to take it as easy as you can. I can tell you I had to return to work early after being re-hospitalized two times with no time off left and it has been a struggle. You will probably have really good days and some not so good days. I discovered that a heating pad at night works wonders for me. It just seems to help me feel better. Sending lots of hugs and best wishes.
