New to HS boards

Good morning! Just had my post-op appt from my laparoscopy yesterday. The decision to have a hysterectomy at the begining of January has been made. Just waiting for the nurse to call me to schedule the date.

I am trying to gather information, support, and a little gusto as I move into this phase....

KTblue

Look at the board which discusses different types of hysterectomies. TAH- total abdominal = uterus + cervix
PAH- partial abdominal = uterus
VH - vaginal hysterectomy
I can't recall the term for uterus, cervix, and ovaries

There is lots of information, just waiting to be read! I wish that I could give you more direction, but I didn't pick up why you are having a hysterectomy. Cancerous growths, adenomyosis, cysts, endometriosis are all common reasons. There are many posts which cover these topics to look back upon.

Best wishes to you!
Heather

Re: New to HS boards

Thanks Heather! I have found lots of useful information and questions to ask at my pre-op.

I am having a TAH, partial (leaving one ovary). I have excessive amounts of uterine scar tissue that is starting to encompass my bladder that has been causing abnormal bleeding for 10 years (really) and severe abdominal/back pain consistently for the last 4 month (before that the severe pain was intermittent for the last 10 years)

Hi KTblue

I'm glad you found us before your surgery. The women here are so open and encouraging, and they helped me with all my questions and fears as I was getting ready for my own hysterectomy.
