Post UAE; 2 yrs later, fibroids growing back

Hello everyone,
My friend told me about this site a few years back when I found out I had fibroids, which my mom also had. I opted for an UAE and while it did shrink my fbroids, no onew told me I would experience on-going cramps from ovulation to end of period cycle.

Now the cramps are back fulltime. I get them on and off throughout the day.I say my OBGYN..she suspects they are growing back and just had a sonogram done with results today or tomorrow. BUT I know the fibroids are growing back. I'm having the exact symptoms as before.

Had anyone out there also been in my situation? The doctors never told me they could grow back....

thankyou

Re: Post UAE; 2 yrs later, fibroids growing back

Hi MIYO

When I was choosing between UAE and hysterectomy for my own fibroids, I didn't see anything about new fibroid growth--but I do remember wondering about it and thinking that I should have seen something about it, one way or the other.

I'm sorry your symptoms have returned. I experienced that as well, and I felt so disheartened to have to go through the whole process of tests and decisions all over again.

Have you gotten your ultrasound results back yet?

Re: Post UAE; 2 yrs later, fibroids growing back

I had a UAE procedure that was very painful and failed. I have to say that it was the worst medical experience of my life. Two years after the procedure I ended up having to have a hysterectomy because my symptoms were never fully resolved. My advice and recommendation is that you listen to your inner voice and be very cautious if you are having any reservations about this procedure. I would not recommend the UAE procedure to anyone. I was severely anemic prior to the my UAE and struggled with anemia in the two years following the procedure. It did not help. I feel certain my overall health was compromised as a result of not receiving proper care. This procedure served only to prevent the resolution of my excessive bleeding and to negatively affect the quality of my life. I would recommend you explore alternative treatment. All my best to you . . .
