Hi! Basically, for the first six weeks, all you can do is walk. Please be careful. While you may not see many stitches on the outside, there is a possibility of a hundred or many more on the inside. To keep from gaining weight, eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies. Walk a little at a time, building up distances. But, before I would start ANY kind of exercise, I would check with my doctor. You only have this one chance to heal properly. Have you read the checkpoints here on the site? It gives you a general idea of what you are and are not allowed to do at different stages of recovery. Please take care to not delay full recovery.

Hi!

You're smart to hold off on exercising for now. Early in recovery my doctor suggested short, frequent walks. Your doctor is the person to say when you can start any sort of exercise and when you are cleared to resume activities, you'll need to ease into them gradually.

Please call your doctor to find out specifically what you can and can't do. Meanwhile, you'll find general guidance in the Checkpoints and the Post-Op Articles.

Best wishes for your recovery!
