consult appointment

I got my appointment for my consult with the new dr who will be doing my hyst. I go in next Wednesday the 6th. I am really excited. My dr referred me to him because she no longer does surgery. So hopefully I will get my surgery date. Any advice on what to expect at this appt.

Re: consult appointment

Hi Kris ~~

Glad you got your appt with your new doctor. That will get you one step closer to the "big day"!! I'm just ready to get this done! I'm tired of waiting!! My doctor recommended a hysterectomy on Dec. 10, and it's scheduled for Feb. 18. At least we have this site to read and chat on to keep us occupied while we wait, and wait, and wait!!

Sending you smiles and star filled wishes ~~ StarryNite

Re: consult appointment

Kris -

On my 2nd opinion consult the Dr reviewed my records, did an internal exam (he was checking if I could have daVinci laproscopic or had to have open surgery) and reviewed the surgery options with me.

Hope this helps.

Re: consult appointment

Krisd,
I am getting my third opinion on the 6th too and I am excited also!! I can tell you that from my other two, they took my history, (even though I filled out 6 pages worth of forms) Does anyone ever READ that paperwork?? Then I had an internal after all the talking was done, and had vaginal ultrasounds with both. I am not sure what to expect at this new doctor's office, but the history part. I just pray that if he is "the one" that I don't have another month to wait, but if I do, I will deal with it then. From what I have been told he will try to do my surgery asap because my doctor called ahead to explain the pain issue. Please let me know how your appt turns out I will be thinking of you when I go for mine. My appt is at 3:30. Best Wishes!!

Re: consult appointment

Thanks Alicia and tauruslady. I am going to make a list of all my problems so that I don't forget anything. My appt is at 2:00. Good luck at yours. I will also be thinking of you.

Re: consult appointment

Krisd,
I don't know if you saw it, but there is a list of questions on this site you can print. It has lots of good questions, lots I didn't think of. Hope that helps.
Take Care

Re: consult appointment

I picked the questions from the list I wasn't confident of the answers of, or wanted DH to hear the answers to. I also had a few additional questions that I threw on there too... even after the consult, I came up with more, lol!

The ones I came up with after the consult were what time did he do rounds the day following surgery (so hubby can be there), and would the resident be responsible for discharging me if I was released on the weekend (so I know who to look for when I'm ready to leave, lol)?

Oh, and I almost forgot, good luck!

Re: consult appointment

One of the questions I added to the list of questions from this site was if it would be okay if I got a pedicure before the surgery. The dr. said that wouldn't be a problem, I figure if I am going to be laying/sitting down a lot, might as well have pretty feet (or least as pretty as feet can look). Bonus, I can use my gift certificate my son gave me for Christmas!
