Felt great at first-feel horrible now

I just posted two days ago about how great I felt...I guess I felt too good and got to excited...maybe did too much. I feel like dog poo now. Every inch of my ab muscles ache and my incision is sore. I am almost three weeks post-op and have only occassionally taken Tylenol or Motrin for aches but am taking them constantly now and almost pulled out the Percoset before bed last night. I am starting to feel like I have the flu or something...UGH. DH returns to work on Monday (the 1st) and I just hope I am ready for him to. (we have three boys 6, 5, & 3) I have tried to start taking over some of the chores lunch, folding laundry, etc. but it exhausts me. I would almost think I was getting another infection but I am on a double dose of dicloxicillin every 6 hours and have been for almost two weeks. It makes me sick when I take it now so I have to have some milk or something with it which lessens the absorption rate. UGH

Thanks for listening guys...just had to vent with those who would understand.

Wow, 3 little guys to take care of? It sounds to me like you are trying to do too much too soon, out of necessity I understand.

Is there someone, a neighbor, relative, or friend who can stop by once your hubby returns to work to help you with the boys? Or is there a day care option for during the day, for the 3 year old, while the older boys are in school?

I am just 5 days post-op from a TAH/BSO and today didn't feel as well as I did yesterday. I think we will have up and down days as a part of the heeling process....however, for you to make a good recovery you must continue to get lots of rest and with the 3 little guys that will be tough. I am fortunate in that my children are older and my dh works out of the home so is home to see to things for me much of the time. Our children live outside the home already so taking care of them isn't an issue. I don't know if I would have the energy and certainly understand how you are tiring so easily! I get tired just thinking about you. I wish I were closer I'd come help you!

Take care and please look at your options to reduce the load of work on you. Let the laundry wait. Perhaps your dh could help you make lunches the evening before. And bring you the laundry in a basket so you can fold it slowly.

Take care and good luck as your house tries to return to the "norm". I'll be thinking about you and praying that you are able to work things out so that you can continue to get your rest.

HUGS

Oh no, I really hope you start to feel better soon!

I have been feeling great these last few days and I am just waiting to hit a down side.

I believe it is so normal from all the posts that I have read.

It is exactly two weeks today for me since the surgery. I have felt like total garbage for the past two days. I feel like I may be getting something, or else this is part of recovery? I hope we both feel better soon! Judith

Hi everyone!

I'm almost 6 weeks post-op and I hear just what you're saying. It seems like the up days are really up and the down days are horrible! There is hope though..starting right around the fourth day of the fourth week (I'm keeping track! LOL!) I did start to feel a whole better. Now just watch, since I said that tommorrow I'll feel like dog poo! LOL! These ups and downs have thrown me about this surgery though..it's hard to figure out.

Mischalem, hope you get some help with the boys when your hubbie goes back to work!

to all!

Just remembered

that right around my third week is when I hit what they call the wall. I started really feeling my surgery..almost like I could point at my stomach and know just where things were starting to heal. Kind of like twinges and pulls and just general soreness. My stomach seemed to be so sore. Maybe that's what you are starting to go through. What they say is that's when your stitches start to dissolve and everything.

Hi there

I am at four weeks post and know what you are going tru also...It's called that three week wall when all the anesthesia leaves and you feel all the things on the inside much more...take that percoset if you need to..I still take a pain pill at night sometimes just so I can try to get comfortable to sleep... and yes I am STILL tired so easily no matter what little thing I do..

I also wanted to let you know you need to call your Ombusman or the navy wives club or the navy relief center and they WILL get you some help...that is what they are there for...they offer such a wonderful support system and will help with many things for you and your children..the navy wives club has play groups for the younger ones ( at least In Ca and Fla they do) and it will help you till you can do a little more...Plus they will be wonderful company for you as the boredom sets in..I used to belong while married to my ex in the navy..so give them a call and see what they can do

keep us posted we'll always have a on for you!!!

We're Twins!

Hi mischalen, we had our surguries on the same day. I was feeling pretty good until this past Monday when my stomach & incision started to hurt almost as much as it did those first few days following the surgery. By Tuesday I was really scared that I had messed up the healing process & I saw the doctor for my post-op check-up yesterday. He said I'm healing just fine & what I'm experiencing is "healing" pain & not to worry. He also told me that if I overdo it one day I'll be paying for it for the next TWO weeks. Yikes! That kind of put it into perspective for me, so I'm on good behavior now.

I hope you can get someone to help with your boys. I know it's tough to be on your own, but try to take it easy. I'm in the same boat with my Mom who requires 24/7 care .

mischalem,

Just wanted to raise one more point...you are entering the time where your countless internal stitches are dissolving, leaving weakened tissues to take over. It's a more fragile time of recovery, and you are going to be "feeling" your surgery more. It's not really taking a step backwards...it's a normal phase of your recovery. I agree with the others in that you need to be getting some extra help. This fragile time is exactly why the early recovery period is 6-8 weeks long...to get you over this wall. Make sure you are pampered as much as possible...you are worth it!

My very best to you...
