What timing!!

I got called today for a job interview!! I cannot reach the person and will probably have to get in touch Monday and hope that I can have the interview Tuesday as my surgery is the next day. This is a plum job and I am so excited about it. However, if they cannot fit me in Tusday, do you think I would be functional enough to sit for an interview the week following surgery? I would have someone drive me for sure. Why the heck could they not have called me earlier in the week!!!!

hi Fran

Congratulations on the interview! Always nice to hear good news.

I hope they will be able to schedule it for you on Tuesday as that would be best for sure.

As for being up to it a week after, well thats a tough one as everyone is SO different. I had LAVH and I did go out a week later, not for an interview! but for a long lunch with friends. I held up OK through lunch but I was certainly wiped out afterwards.

I guess if it is not possible to reschedule for before surgery you may have to see how you feel when the time comes after.

Any chance they could do the interview by phone? My DH often does that as he employs people overseas!

Good luck both with the job and with the surgery!

Steph

What timing!!

Hi Fran,
I wonder if when you explain the situation to them if they will perhaps try and squeeze you in on Tuesday. I agree with Steph that its hard to say if you would be comfortable enough to sit through an interview the following week.
I am a firm believer that if something is meant to be it will be.....so based on that, if this is really the job for you, they will either squeeze you in early, or give you a couple weeks to get on the road to recovery!!
Best of luck with your surgery and interview!
Hugs,
Maria

What timing!!

Congrats on the opprotunity! I work for a very large corporation and emergencies often come up. In fact, I have had one of my children get sick on the first day of 3 different positions (promotions!). I learned that most 'bosses' are also people and understand that certain things just happen without planning.

Be honest with them. Perhaps they can schedule sooner, perhaps they can postpone it for a couple of weeks. I wouldn't suggest trying an interview immediately following a surgery of any type. I don't think they would be very comfortable if you are not comfortable during the interview (such things like pain and fear tend to show <smile>). Anyway, the interviewing process usually takes a couple of weeks to complete - and you should be ready to start the new job soon after!

Best of luck with both the job interview and the surgery.

Judy
