Will I have to Douche from now on?

This may be a weird question, but I was told many years ago to never douche anymore that it was outdated and not advised by doctors now. That your monthly cycle naturally cleanses you out and the douche will just lead to infections by taking away your natural enzymes or whatever in the vagina that fight infection. But once I don't have a period anymore I won't have a monthly cleansing cycle. Will I have to douche every so often to stay clean/fresh after surgery?

No, you do not have to douche after a hysterectomy. The vaginal is self cleansing, even post complete hysterectomy!

I haven't douched, and I haven't had any trouble at all. Just to be sure, ask your doctor what's best for you.

The vagina naturally cleanses itself, and keeps itself ph balanced.

My girlfriend had her hysto about 30 years ago and never has douched. She told me today that she actually noticed less yeast infections and less natural odor after the surgery.

And in case they didn't tell you - absolutely nothing in the vagina for 6-8 weeks post-op.
