Five days to go and scared.help!

Hi Mik...

If you are like me, you will feel RELIEVED.

The very first thing I did when I opened my eyes in recovery was to smile...and tell the PACU nurse that I was SOOOO happy to be there! She must have thought I was nuts. But it's true...I was so relieved to have it all over, and to be ALIVE, that anything else was secondary. I did have some pain, which was immediately addressed, and I felt really sleepy. Other than that, it was much less painful and scary than I had imagined.

What you are feeling is perfectly normal...we all felt it. You'll get through this....just try to concentrate on little things to keep busy, and focus ahead to something nice or cozy or pleasant that you'll be happy to do when you get home. A good book, some CDs you haven't had time to listen to, favorite TV shows to watch while snuggled in your pillows...

Hang in there...you'll be on the other side before you know it!

Five days to go and scared.help!

I know! Me too on Monday! Breathe and trust! That is what I am trying to do!
From what I have heard and read and seen at the hospital, we are going to feel a lot better cuz we are done! My dr told me that the pain levels for TVH and LAVH are a lot less than for abdominal. So I am counting on that. I trust him immensly.
Be thinking of you! Lots of prayers and big hugs!

Love Too

Peanut,
Thank you for your reply. I will be thinking of you Monday and sending sisterly love your way. Please let me know how you make out. You are right about feeling better. My bladder infections that haven't gone away since Thanksgiving will finally be gone due to prolapse.I wish the docs hadn't taken so long to figure things out. I hope things go well with you. You will be in my prayers and thoughts. Iwon't be far behind and we can talk and recover together.

Love,
Mik

Mik and Peanut: hang in there, your wait is almost over

When I woke for surgery, the first thing I remember is thinking: he did a vaginal I was feeling pain, yes, but not that much, and it was all in the perineum area, where the posterior repair had taken place.

Believe me: the wait is a lot worst than the actual surgery. Yes, there is pain, but nothing like I imagined. And, my pain was wonderfully managed by the meds that the hospital was administering. I think that the key to an uneventful recovery is to make sure and let the nursing staff know when the meds are not working. While your body is concentrating on managing the pain, it can't concentrate on healing.

Wishing you the best of luck with your upcoming surgery. Don't forget, we also have a chat room, should you ever feel the need to chat on-line.

We'll be right here with you every step of the way.

Wecome!

Just wanted to say welcome!

I felt nothing "right after" because I had a spinal. That was nice. Be sure to keep up on pain meds as scheduled...the pain was much more managable than I thought it would be!

My DH has been given only one assignment. Track down that lovely nurse on the3.5 hour. I'm not waiting for them to come to me or for the pain to get to an unbearable point. I've been through surgery before. hahahah

It is ok

I had a PAC with morphine. Your doc is not going to let you hurt.
I had more pain from the catheter (accidently got pulled when they moved me) and bladder than from my incision.

They will keep you comfortable, but you won't be doing jazzercise
