My last question for a bit...I promise! :)

When did you feel like going out to socialize with people? I live in Wisconsin and if any of you know what that means, we like our beer (or at least this Wisconsinite does!). I'm not ready quite yet but know its gonna get harder and harder. Can I have a beer a week or two post-op? I guess that's probably a question for the doc at my 2-week follow-up.

Re: My last question for a bit...I promise! :)

I am a little over 5 weeks out from complete hysterectomy (everything removed) and an appendectomy (sp?). I also live in Wisconsin and am having a hard time going out and socializing. Just getting ready makes me so tired, that I feel as though I cannot do anything. Last night I was actually able to go out with some friends for the first time. I was surprised that I actually had a great time and enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine. I listened to my body and went home when I was feeling tired. Today I am a little swollen and sore but not too bad. Having this site has definately helped in the healing process! Hope your recovery goes well.

My only suggestion would be to watch mixing pain meds with alcohol ~ not a good idea.

But what I really posted for was your title and to let you know to post as many questions as you like ~ someone always lends a hand and there are probably several others out there wondering the same thing you are. So keep asking questions.

Hi Penny1964

I'm in Wisconsin, too, and I totally get it! I bet you could even call your doctor's office tomorrow for an answer if you don't want to wait until your appointment.

My doctor told me to wait until I'd been off pain meds for a couple days before having alcoholic beverages. My taste buds were off for a few weeks after my surgery, but I do recall enjoying one at about three week post-op. Ask your doctor what's best for you. Any doctor in Wisconsin has probably had patients ask this before
