HRT needed after normal menopause?

I had a complete daVinci hysterectomy December 11 and am doing surprisingly well. My dr. mentioned hormones before the surgery but said we'd discuss it more afterwards. Well, silly me, when I went for my post-op visit, I didn't think to ask and he didn't bring it up. Anyway, I'm 59 and have been post-menopausal for 4-5 years and had only a few hot flashes and then nothing. Never went on hormones. Am taking a very low doze of Zoloft which did miracles for my mood swings and crying spells. Since my surgery 4 weeks ago I've had no hot flashes or symptoms other people on here have mentioned. Should I call back and ask him or just wait til I go to my regular gyn in the spring? I've been on Actonel for bone density for about 3 years.

If you kept your ovaries, you may not notice any difference in your need for HRT. While they may go through a time of recovery where they may not work quite as well as before, they may also continue working without a hitch.

If you aren't having any symptoms of hormone fluctuations, then you may just want to wait and see.
