How long is everyone out of work or for those that are back, how long did you take? And what type of hyster did you have? I had a TLH and am feeling very good at 9 days post-op so have a feeling at next week's appointment, the doc will tell me I can go back anytime. Not sure I'm really ready for that! My plan is to take 4-6 weeks off, or more specifically, go back part-time at 5 weeks and full-time at 6. What about everyone else here? Just curious!
I had a LSH. I returned to work full time at week 5. I did very well returning to work. I am a supervisor and don't do a lot of movement. I work for a manufacturing agency. I supervise all men so I didn't have to worry about lifting anything heavy. They take good care of me.
It really depends on you and how well you are feeling and the type of job that you do. My advice to you is to take your time and listen to your body.
I had a DVH and @ 3 weeks he said he would release me at weeks 4-5 to return for one week at half days and then as tolerated progress to full days. Let me just say that the fatigue in weeks 2-3 really, really, really surprsied me. I am healthy, fit and in good shape and had a minimally invasive procedure so I knew I would be a bit tired, but I had no idea it would be a "it's 3 pm and I've only run one errand and done one load of laundry but I'm so tired I have to lay down right.now." kind of tired. Seriously.
My doctor said no work for 6 weeks. I'm a nurse therefore I do alot of heavy lifting so we will see at my 6 week check up. My lightest patient I have right now is 60lbs. I do home care. I'm only one week post op and can't imagine every lifting that again! LOL I know I will, it just don't feel like it!
I went back to work at 4-weeks having my TAH. I could have opted for the 6-weeks. I really wished I'd have taken the 6-weeks. I am a secretary and dont do any lifting at all. Remember "you only get 1 chance to heal right" is what I say.
Next week will be 6 weeks post-op from my TAH and I am plannng on only going into the office for a few meetings. I called my doctor last week and she said that if I wanted to go into work I could but only for a couple of hours. I have my post-op appt. on Feb. 3rd and expect to be released for all activity
My doc said 4 weeks, but I might go back earlier. I'm 9 days post op, and I know I won't be going back at 2 weeks. I hope to begin working part time from home on my computer next week. This has been slower than I thought.
My doc is a gyn surgery specialist in minimally invasive gyn surgery. His lap hyst patients are usually out of work for 2 weeks for a non-lifting type of job.
I went back at the end of 2 weeks and it was awful. Even week 3 was quite rough. I was doing quite a bit better by 4 weeks.
