Please pray I come through surgery for my family

I thought I came across this post by accident, but after reading it I realize this is exactly where God wanted me to be. I was schedualed to have a total hysterectomy tommorow because I have severe endometriosis and PMDD. Both have gotten worse over the past few years. I have been nothing short of terrified and I could not understand why. I have had other surgery before and I was never afraid. I always knew everything was going to be fine. This time though my life is different. My husband who truly is the love of my life, is now 100% dissabled. After 2 tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan he is so wounded he will probably never be able to work. He will be 28 in March. I have 2 children from a previouse marriage and their dad is an SF soldier who is always deployed and unfortunatly not emotionally able to be a father to them. My husband is a wonderful loving husband and father but after his injuries and especially his severe PTSD he is not capable of taking care of the boys or himself. I don't work anymore because they need me. So if anything happens to me he would never get custody of them and they would be in a terrible place with my x husband. My X husband also has PTSD but refuses to get help because it would ruin his career. I have always had such strong faith that God was watching over me and my kids and that even when things were tough they would get better. I dont know why I'm so scared now. I cancelled my surgery for tommorow due to a bladder infection but deep down I wanted to cancel because I am afraid I will die and wont be with my family anymore. I feel like I am losing my mind. Please pray for me that I can get my strength back and keep faith that God will make sure I come through my surgery just fine so I can be here for my husband and sons.

Re: Please pray I come through surgery for my family

My prayers are with you. God will give you strength. I hung on my wall the Psalm 121, so I could read it every day before my surgery. It did help and God does answer prayers. Having a hysterectomy is very life altering. Remember God is with you, he will see you through this event in your life. I had my hysterectomy due to ovarian cancer, I was scared and that is only natural. I have worked in health care for over 23 years. I have been through a lot of things and seen many horrible things happen to others. I never thought anything would affect my life like this has. The good side is it has been 2 weeks since my surgery and things are looking better. 3 weeks ago I do not think I could of said that aloud to anyone. Remember God will be there for you and your family. Reach out to your extended family if possible and talk with clergy. Make post on this board people here understand things you are experiencing.

I pray the doctors have the hand of God over them and that you will be safe, have a quick recovery, and peace of mind and heart. He knows you and your needs and because you love him and have asked for his help he will be with you. Good luck and let us know how you're doing!

Thank you so much for your prayers and advice. I will pray for you too. Cancer is such a scary thing. My grandmas sister had ovarian cancer when she was in her 30's but she lived a healthy life well into her 90's. You sound like a wonderful person with very strong faith. With everything you are going through thank you so much for taking the time to comfort me. You truly are an Angel.

Thank you so much for your prayers. They mean so much to me and my family. I feel much calmer today and I know it is because God has lead me to people like you. God Bless You.

Re: Please pray I come through surgery for my family

I pray that the Lord will give you peace and comfort during this scary time in your life. I was extremely scared before my surgery too. Now it has been almost 5 weeks and I am doing pretty good. Getting back into the swing of things. I also had the fear that I may die. I have 3 sons and two grandchildren. I was so afraid I would leave them alone here on this earth. I was sick over it and actually lost weight. I know that God is in control of all of it and I just kept going back to His promise of "I will never leave you nor forsake you" and He won't leave you and your family either. My husband did a semon in church Sunday and he said "Faith and Love overcomes fear". Have faith in God and I pray your fear will subside.

Please say thank you to your husband for his selfless service to this country. And to you too for being his wife. My son is a former Marine. His time was up last year. He is 24 years old. He never had to serve overseas, but the chance was always there. As his mother, I was terrified that he would have to go and I would never see him again.

I will be praying for you and your family and that the Lord is with your surgeon and the He give you favor with the hospital, nurses and anyone involved with your surgery.

Re: Please pray I come through surgery for my family

I really appreciate reading your post. I am scheduled for a TLH Feb. 2 and am nothing short of terrified. I know deep down it is because I know my family needs me and I am afraid of something going wrong. My fear is overwhelming, it consumes my day and my night..I have had nightmares ever since I found out I was having surgery. I will continue to pray for all of us who have this fear, to find peace and be able to do this. I am so afraid that I will cancel my surgery, and really shouldn't do that...so here's hoping (and praying) we get through this soon!!

Thank you so much for your comforting words and your prayers. It helps so much to know that others have had the same fears and have come through just fine. It also means a lot for my husband to hear thanks for his service. We still live in a military town and unfortunatly when you live near a large base and almost everyone is military you really dont hear thank you very often. I tell him every time someone thanks him for his service in their post on this site and although he lives with the pain of two wars and really doesnt ever want to talk about them or hear about them, when I tell him someone said "thank you" I see a light in his eyes I havent seen in a long time. So you are helping us both with your kind words and I cant thank you enough. God Bless You.

Thank you so much for your post and your prayers.I will pray for you too, and all of the ladies going through this. My surgery ended up getting cancelled because of a bladder infection but since my surgeon was not my regular GYN he did'nt know this was like my fourth infection this year. I mentioned it to his nurse when I called to cancel and now he wants me to see a urologist to have some imageing done of my uriters. I guess the surgery can be really dangerouse if there is a problem with my bladder. I had no idea it was important to tell them how many bladder/kidney infections I had this year. So I am thinking maybe things worked out for the best. I'm not sure about how you usually feel about medical procedures but I have read several posts wher ladies have said they had a strong feeling to postpone surgery and found out they had another medical issue that needed to be addressed before surgery would be safe. But most people say they were scared and had the surgery on schedual and everything worked out fine. I think for me I was convinced that my fear was driven by concern for my children and husband since my husband is no longer able to take care of them or himself, but I was also bothered by the fact that I have had other surgery in the past and was never afraid. But that was before he was injured. I guess what I'm saying is I think it's important to listen to your gut. Unless there is cancer or something involved where putting off surgery is putting you at higher risk then if you really feel that uneasy if you reschedual maybe you will find you feel better in another month or so. In the mean time you can talk with your doctor about your concerns and why you think you may be so frightend. Maybe there are more tests you feel you need or maybe you would like to know your options on anastesia. Then if you reschedual and all of your questions are answered and you get close to the date and you still feel major anxiety, I know several ladies on here have said their docs prescribed antianxiety meds that helped a lot. What do you think?

Re: Please pray I come through surgery for my family

I think asking for the antianxiety might be a good idea. I go to the doctor Monday, so I will ask her and try to talk about this overwhelming fear....thanks for your support. I hope you get your answers soon and can get rescheduled.
Hugs and Prayers
