Anyone had BSO and TLH in their 20's?

I am having surgery one day prior to my 28th Bday. (Feb 8 is surgery day). Has anyone else had the surgery this young and what is your status and recovery situation?

Thanks!!

Amanda

Re: Anyone had BSO and TLH in their 20's?

Hey Amanda, that is really young! I am 39 and 9 weeks post op. I thought I was young. In my opinion you will probably heal faster because you are still so young. I think you will be okay. What kind of surgery are you having? Will you get to keep your ovaries?? Why do you have to have the surgery? You and my daughter have the same birthday, she will be 3 on Feb 9.

As I said I am 12 years older than you but I recovered quite nicely. so I think you will do well also. Just make sure you take it easy for the WHOLE 6 weeks, and get lots of help from friends and family, especially if you have children. Tanke care and keep me posted i will keep you in my thoughts and prayers! My real email is < Email address removed for your safety and privacy > feel free to let me know how things are going and any questions you might have. I can't imagine being faced with this at such a young age. If you need to talk I'm here.

I do have a 4 year old son, and have been with my husband for 13 years (married 8) but he works 3- 14 hour days a week and I am a stay at home mom. Worried about how to handle this. This is not at all my only health problem, I have quite a few serious complications including diabetes. That is a factor in healing. I am having a Total Laproscopic Hysterectomy and cervix removal with both ovaries being removed. My current testosterone level is 387.
Whereas it should be around 30. My estrogen is close to zero. I am worried about instant menopause and the symptoms... Thank you very much for your reply- And my I am actually born on my Mothers birthday as well. Feb 9th is a big day for a lot of folks! lol.

I'm 30 and having a TAH. I'm praying that I won't need a BSO. But I've been on an estrogen-blocker the past month and a half, so I don't know if my ovaries will wake up or not.
