Will be 44 next month!

As for me, I will be 44 next month! And ...my 40s have been great! Six months before my 40th birthday, I went on the South Beach Diet and really got myself into shape for all of the right reasons. Since then, eating right has been my #1 priority! The funny thing is that the doctors are right. You really ARE what you eat! My blood pressure is under control, I've lost weight, I have more energy throughout every day, and I really do feel wonderful! I really started to workout back then, too, and have found myself looking forward to my workouts.

I had a TAH back on June 22, 2009, and since my surgery, I have felt a real sense of freedom. I am actually able to do things outside of my house for all 30 days in a given month! I never thought that would be an option for me!

In December of this year, I let all of my gray hair come in! I was just sick of chasing all of that gray hair every 3 weeks. It is so hard to keep gray hair black!

Hugs to all of the 40-something year olds out there. It's really not that bad!

Re: Will be 44 next month!

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Weight has always been an issue for me. I decided that I wouldn't let it haunt me the rest of my life! I faced it head on and have done really well. I'm still not where I want to be, but getting closer every day! The losing of the weight is not hard. It's keeping the weight off that's the struggle.

Re: Will be 44 next month!

i used to work in a clinic and we always told our patients, when they did get discouraged, that it didn't appear over night and it wont go away over night... kudos to you...

Re: Will be 44 next month!

Happy Birthday EightWeeksOff! I completely agree about the gray hair. As far as I'm concerned, gray hair should be worn with pride because we've earned it! I just had my LSH on Thursday and will be 44 in April. Even though I have surgery-related pain, my chronic pelvic pain is gone and I feel like this might give a new perspective on what I can do once recovery is over. Cheers to no more 10+ day periods with at least 3 confined to the house! I hope like you I have more freedom in my future.

Re: Will be 44 next month!

Beads4Fun! Thank you for the birthday wishes! AND, I love my gray hair! It's silver with some black in small places and it's very unique. Some people actually think I've had reverse frosting done to it!

I hope your recovery goes well. One day at a time. As for me. My first week was very uncomfortable, but after that ... it really was smooth sailing for me. I had a TAH back on 6-22-09. And, I love my freedom! My periods used to last for 19 days every month! HELLO! Everytime I pass the maxi pad/tampon isle in Target, I literally chuckle to myself! Good riddance!

I too am liking 40. I think all our experiences from our 20's and 30's can serve us well for this decade of our lives.
