Re: 'period' after partial hyster

You could definitely be having a mini period! Mini periods can occur for women who have their cervix and at least one ovary. We even have an article written about them!

Mini Periods After Hysterectomy

If I understand correctly, you having some bladder issues as well? It is not uncommon for many of us to have a UTI following this surgery. Could that be the problem? And some ladies do find their bladder (and/or bowels) don't respond well overall to the surgery. It is good you are in contact with your doctor for your bladder concerns.

Re: 'period' after partial hyster

Hi Lilykabir,

I also had a partial hyst and kept my cervix and ovaries.

You might just be still experiencing some post-op bleeding or it could be a mini-period. If a Hyster Sister keeps one or both ovaries and the cervix with a hyst...there can be a chance of a mini-period in post-op. Generally, ladies report needing a pantyliner at that time of the month.

If you do have mni-periods...you might ask your Dr. if he/she does post-op cervix cauterization. It could help with the spotting. It can be done as an outpatient in the Dr's office.

Best wishes~

Mary
