Re: Orgasms weaker and difficult to achieve
Hi all - not sure if anyone's still seeking input on this topic as it appears as though the last post was back in January.
I'm also having the same problems... low desire but mostly because it hurts! I have tried estrogen cream (although not consistently and maybe that's key) and am on HRT. I used to have a voracious sex drive but those days are GONE. My husband and I have only been married 5 years and although he's the most wonderfully patient man on the planet.... will he always be?? He keeps saying it will get better... but I'm thinking WILL IT?!?
I'm so frustrated and wishing I'd never had this stupid surgery! My ovarian cyst was non-cancer (thank God) and sometimes I think we should've just left things alone. I have enough other health issues to not enjoy my sex life on top of it all. Sometimes it's not too bad if we do it on a regular basis but one week missed means terrible discomfort and if I do achieve the "O" (very hard to get there) it's a let-down for sure.
Any advice is appreciated. I haven't been to see my gyno because I'm so tired of Dr's telling me to just live with the problems I have. Low back pain, joints achy, eyes & skin (& everything) DRY, knees are going fast, put on 20 lbs since surgery and cry at the drop of a hat... not to mention STILL having hot flashes.
I agree with others too about the Dr's -- they think it's no big deal but why wouldn't it be?? I had ant/post repairs, bladder sling and TVH w/DaVinci. 3 mos after surgery I was just starting to feel like I was getting back to my old self but then ended up getting C. Difficile Infection (digestive tract) as a result of CIPRO antibiotic they gave me. There are lingering stomach issues as a result.
Some days it's just too much and I want to give up. This is one of those days. Normally this time of year I'm bounding with energy, working in my gardens. This year... not at all.

Re: Orgasms weaker and difficult to achieve
Right after my surgery things were great in fact better than before. But, as time has gone on things have gotten worse, weaker and less intense. I've tried lowering my systemic dose of estrogen and adding more vaginal estrogen. I've done kegels and know how to do them correctly. It's frustrating! I don't know if testosterone is the missing link as it's the only thing I haven't tried. I've started using Vagifem again and I'll let you know if it helps.

Re: Orgasms weaker and difficult to achieve
I have seen a couple of posts about testasterone cream for the clitoris. Don't know if it works. I am waiting for results on my hormone tests, because at 7 months post hyst I am still having lots of problems. My clitoris is going numb with very little stimulation at all. I see my dr on Tuesday, and will ask about the testasterone cream, and for any other ideas she has to increase sensation. Last week I finally had sensation in my cervix for the first time in 7 months and was actually able to orgasm, but I have virtually no feeling in my vaginal walls at all. Can feel pressure at the "G" spot, but that is just about it. Hope you can find some solutions. Pass on any info that you think will help anyone else. Thanks!!!

Re: Orgasms weaker and difficult to achieve
Well...I had my hysterectomy in July 2008, so I am close to 3 years. Unfortunately, I have similar problems, and thus far have not been able to find a solution.
I take natural progesterone, along with a number of different sexual enhancers that help 'some' but I'm sorry to say, I have never had a normal orgasm since the surgery. I do get them but they are very weak. So disappointing for someone who was so active, and has multiples (impossible now), and very deep powerful orgasms. If I'm not careful now, I could entire miss them.
But, I don't know the answers any more than the rest of you. I can say however that the products I take, at least keep me from growing tumbleweed in my vagina. There is a woman's Extenze, which I take. I have tried ArginMax and that helps some. But I virtually have no libido either. I even went to Clear Passage Therapy and spent over 5 grand out of my pocketm and had only limited improvement, but you know I still trying, and will take anything to keep it going.
And no my doctor didn't tell me any of this either. My operation was for fibroids, and he didn't even discuss any alternatives.

Re: Orgasms weaker and difficult to achieve
I am now on prometrium (bioidentical progesterone), and estrace cream. The estrace cream seems to have helped a lot with the clitoris, and I now get some clitoral orgasm, but it is nothing like what I used to have. Like you, I will keep at it. Age 52 is way too young to give up on sex!!!

Re: Orgasms weaker and difficult to achieve
I am 10 years post-op and I have more feeling back but it is still nowhere near where it used to be. Nerves take a long time to grow back and don't fully regenerate. After my hysterectomy I hardly felt anything sexually. I t took a long time and lots of patience to even have an orgasm and I was really depressed. Our sex life is really good again but for a long time I had a harder time feeling interested because it was more of an effort to have an orgasm. I am resigned to the fact that it will never be what it was. I probably should have sought out a second opinion or looked for an alternative to the surgery for my fibroids. Surgery was done when I was 30.

Re: Orgasms weaker and difficult to achieve
I had a TAH/BSO for endometrial cancer in March of 2008. I have the same problems. It has never improved. Sex was uncomfortable but the ability to respond got worse with time. I am now anorgasmic. My gyn also told me it mental. He refused to give me hormones in spite of the fact my cancer was stage 1A, grade 1. My experience wasn't mental it was physical.
I am now seeing gyn #3. It looks like she might be starting me on compounded hormones. After all of this time, I don't have any real expectations that it will help. I am just fed up with being tired all of the time.
I wish everyone the best.

Re: Orgasms weaker and difficult to achieve
I had my LATVH with both ovaries removed 13 months ago.
I can only have an orgasm with clitirol stimulation and then it is not much. I do not have any feeling in my vaginal canal but when my husband hits my vaginal cuff it really hurts a lot. We have always had a wonderful sex life, having sex 5 times a week at least. I also had multiple orgasms. Now it is down to one time a week and even then I really don't want to do it because I know a. I will not have an orgasm with penetration, b. when he hits my vaginal cuff and I have the pain that is all i am going to feel. It is truly sad. when I told my gyn about it he just looked at me and went on to something else. I was NEVER told this could be a complication from this surgery. I just do not feel like myself anymore. It is truly sad and just writing this brings tears to my eyes. I want to be me again and have an enjoyable and satisfying sex life with my husband again.

Re: Orgasms weaker and difficult to achieve
Me too!!! Have even had severe depression and seeing a counselor because I am so discouraged. My sex life before my surgery was great, but now it totally, completely sucks!! Husband doesn't understand. He says that I did have good one early on after the surgery. I agree, sex is no longer even worth the time and effort! I'd rather give him a hand and be done because I get so discouraged when we do. No drive, no desire, no Os, .... I never thought this part of my life would be awful, because before my total with BSO I had such a healthy desire and enjoyment of sex. To make matters worse (more frustrating and more depressing) ever since our daughter was born in 1999 the DH rarely even wanted to ...... afraid we might get pregnant. Now, he wants to ALL the time. Now that I can't enjoy it, he wants it. Please, someone offer some help. I am on HRT (estrogen, testosterone and progesterone) and yet I hate sex since my surgery, yet loved it before.
