1 1/2 years after, more surgery!

Hi all.
I haven't been here in awhile. But I'm feeling a bit scared and alone right now. It has been about a year and four months since my surgery. I kept my ovaries and cervix. After spending the last two months in pain we have discovered that my left ovary has 9 complex/compound large cysts on it. We have opted to remove the ovary, and hopefully, baring scar tissue or adhesions, this will be done Monday with a scope.
But I thought I was over this. I'm getting very depressed about it all.
I lost my mother four months ago as well, and without any siblings, I just don't have anyone close who I can talk to about this that I feel might understand.
I guess this was such a safe haven when I had my hysterectomy that I just wanted to come back here right away.

Re: 1 1/2 years after, more surgery!

I am so sorry this happened to you and you have to have another procedure! However, I am sure you will be okay and make it through it all. And we will all be here for you anytime you need us. I didn't have anyone to talk to either before my hysterectomy and not now while I am recovering either, which why I am here also. You are not alone here. I wish you the best for your procedure and recovery on Monday.

Re: 1 1/2 years after, more surgery!

Hi all.
Well, it's been about a week and a half. I'm home, obviously! lol Had a horrible day and night in the hospital. We found out I can't take toradol anymore for pain, my BP dropped to the floor for hours! Doc said he was in longer than anticipated because the largest of the 9 cycsts was wrapped up in some bowel tissue. Managed the first 24 hours after recovery with no pain killer due to BP being so low form the toradol in the recovery room!
I know have an infection in the navel incision, which I'm on antibiotics for.
And now that horrible numbness in my thighs. I *think* I had some of this with the other surgeries, but honestly can't remember and it is bothering the hell out of me.

Re: 1 1/2 years after, more surgery!

I had a similar situation. Partial hysterectomy in July of 08, and 5 days ago had both ovaries removed. I was scheduled to go in for pelvic support surgery, but while waiting for that surgery they discovered a cyst. He then planned to take out the ovary at the same time, but ended up only being able to take out the ovaries. The cyst was shaped like a sausage about six inches long, was twisted 5 times, ruptured, infected, and adhesions everywhere. It was very painful. Now I have to wait 3-6 more months to have the support surgery. Ugh. MOre surgery.

Re: 1 1/2 years after, more surgery!

I'm facing more surgery 3/18 for ovaries also so I sympathize. It's hard to go back for more surgery after thinking it's all done. I don't like to talk to a lot of people about my GYN problems, so I keep it pretty much quiet at places like work. I felt bad losing my uterus but figured, well, at least I had my ovaries, so now it's hard to think of losing them, too. I know they say it doesn't matter but it's a real adjustment for me. I hope you have someone who can be there for you, in addition to us. I guess we are not alone in needing more surgery.
