Breast tenderness?

Post-op partial abdominal hysterectomy done on Jan. 25, 2010. My breasts have been a little swollen and very tender also I have had some hot and cold flashes all through the day and night. I have seen the Dr. and there is no infection present. So if I still have my ovaries is this normal?

Re: Breast tenderness?

Hi

Even though you kept your ovaries, they were manipulated during surgery, which can cause hormone surges. This might also explain the hot and cold flashes, as they can be caused by hormone fluctuations. It doesn't necessarily mean that you don't have enough of a hormone, but can mean that the estrogen is just fluctuating.

Hopefully your ovaries will continue to do their job as well as before the surgery, and all will be good soon. Give it a couple of months.

I hope the rest of your recovery goes well.

Re: Breast tenderness?

I had my hysterectomy Jan 21 and have had the same symptoms. Hot flashes every night right around midnight have finally decreased (none the last three nights). Breast tenderness is still an issue and seems to be getting worse. I am hoping hormones will settle down soon!
