loss of appetite and nausea at week 4
i thought my nausea and loss of appetite was due to the prescription painkillers that i was taking but they haven't subsided since i stopped taking them 3 days ago. i'm still on over the counter painkillers. i keep feeling i'm on the verge of a gastric attack. i had bad gas at week 1 and 2 and kept burping all the time but the burping has stopped since. anyone has same problems? any solutions?

Re: loss of appetite and nausea at week 4
I have been dealing with the similar issues.
I am 6 weeks post op and I still have no appetite and when I eat I get really nauseated. And the burping and farting is not great either. I have been taking gas-x and rollaids for weeks.
I have my 6 week check up tomorrow so I will ask the Doc. I'll let you know if there is any good explanation. Take care

Re: loss of appetite and nausea at week 4
bassdiva....Hi, I had no nausea in the hospital but the minute I came home I had it for at least the first 2 months. I had a TVH and TVT.. I have irritable bowel, but this was different. My dr. told me it was probably from all the healing. It got to the point at times where I was just eating toast and crackers. I lost 15 pounds. At around the 2+ mark I started feeling better and have been fine since. Hang in there, if it gets too bad maybe your Dr. will give you some anti nausea pills. They can make you tired. I also sucked on peppermint altoids they helped me. Take care

Re: loss of appetite and nausea at week 4
I am 4 weeks post op and still have nausea after eating sometimes. I eat very small meals and I limit what I eat still. I don't eat any red meat yet, only small amounts of chicken and I don't eat anything spicy. I still suck on a peppermint after almost all my meals, so I don't think you have anything to worry about, but would definitely check with your doctor to be sure. Good luck and take care!

Re: loss of appetite and nausea at week 4
I don't have much of an appetite, either. No nausea since being in the hospital, but food just doesn't appeal to me much. I eat, yes, but some days not even until dinner time. It just all sounds so boring. The only thing that seems to sound good is pizza. I do crave orange juice, though.
I have had bad experiences with eggs, too....no more of them for the time being!

Re: loss of appetite and nausea at week 4
hi all! thanks for answering. i don't feel so worried now. i've come to the conclusion that soup and toast works best for me with fresh fruit for fibre.
LONSON, it'll be great to hear what your doctor says about this. my checkup isn't for another 2 weeks.
meanwhile, i won't feel so much about having ice cream for dinner as sometimes that's all i feel i can swallow without nausea

Re: loss of appetite and nausea at week 4
I was the same way, no appitite and battled nausea for months. I am at my 6 month now and I still have some days that are not so great and some days I have appitite. I also have GI problems though. I was given meds. for the nausea because my weight was dropping too much. See your doctor if it continues and see if they can help.

Re: loss of appetite and nausea at week 4
Hey all
I am 3 weeks post op and I have no appetite either..and for me thats saying something..i am a real foodie!
Irb467--yep, same thing here..just cant be bothered. I have to eat teeny tiny meals, or nibbles, or i get SO Full and bloated and feel WAY TOO UNCOMFORTABLE.....and I just cant be fussed to fix anything else..that means I have to go shopping...and I dont want to do that either. I am living on toast, and a lean cuisine if i want something hot. No bowel problems, as I drink a lot of water...dont mind losing weight either, so it all works out..for once!

Re: loss of appetite and nausea at week 4
I suggest Peppermint tea for stomach and nausea issues. This has REALLY helped me thorough some tough days.
If you had a complete hysterectomy with ovary removal I wonder if the nausea could be related to the body trying to regulate its hormones??
Something to think about.
Good Luck,
RedHead

Re: loss of appetite and nausea at week 4
Hello, Ladies.
I'm 3 weeks p-o today. I ready your post yesterday and didn't think anything of it....unfortunately, I woke up this morning and couldn't finish my scrambled eggs! I was a little hungry when I went to bed last night, so I planned to dig in for breakfast....BAD idea.
I feel slightly dizzy and my tummy is all gassy and bubbly (but I have had no success in the bathroom since Monday...usually when I post this, I'll make poo within the hour!). I think I'll have DH go grab me some ginger ale - it usually helps me with nausea.
I think I'll look into the hormones, or lack of, causing nausea during the adjustment time....sounds plausable to me!
Hope you're all hanging in there...
