Question - 5 weeks post op bladder sling & having pain 5 weeks post op bladder sling & having pain

I had a TVH, BSO, AP repair and TOT sling on 01/12/10. I haven't been out much because the weather has been so cold, snowy and icy where I'm at that I'm scared to death of falling and doing damage. However, I went to the mall yesterday and for the first time didn't get a wheel chair but walked instead. We were only there for about an hour and it wasn't all walking during this time. After that went to supper at Texas Roadhouse. By the time I got home I was in so much pain and still am. My back and hips hurt as does my abdomen. Can anyone tell me if they had this problem because of the bladder sling operation or is this just part of my total recovery? I have to go back to work a week from Wednesday and am wondering how I'm going to sit in a chair for 8 hours plus drive 35 minutes to and from work when I feel so awful at this point. I would be grateful for any insight.

Re: 5 weeks post op bladder sling & having pain

J4S--

I'm sorry you are having these issues. Some people take awhile longer to recover than others. I was told after my first 'combo' surgery that it would be 12 weeks before I would be able to do all my normal activities. I still felt pretty good at 6 weeks out and was doing most of my normal activities (just had help with the lifting stuff and some more difficult things).

If you haven't moved around much, it probably did hurt some to get out and about. If you will go to the Post Op forum's advice about recovery, you will find a wealth of information about approx. what timetable many women recover.

I hope you feel better fast.
