baths

I have read on here where someone can finally take a hot bath? I have been taking hot baths from 2 weeks post op? is this a no no?my legs ache and the hot baths help tremendously! what can the harm be in a bath

It isn't the hot water it's the bacteria in the bath tub, even if it's just cleaned. I was released for baths at 2 weeks. If your doctor said it's fine then it's fine.

Mine told me I could do it right away. Nurse told me only shower, so I did after a week to be safe. Figured Dr. would know better and I was okay.

I was told no baths for 6 weeks only showers.

My post op instructions from my doctor say "no tub bathing for 2 weeks".

I was told no hot baths for 6 wks due to the fact I am healing internally. Bacteria, soap etc can get up in there per my doctor.

Did you say what type of surgery you had? I had a TAH and my doctor told me only showers, no baths for 6 weeks.

harvey: If you are refering to lstewart14 I had a TAH on January 18.

Mine told me no baths or hot tubs for 6 weeks. missed them. The are soothing. I did drape my legs in hot tub, just made sure didn't sit down in. and those first baths were heaven....just heaven; sometimes the recovery sort of teaches me, reminds me, of the sweet things I take for granted too often.

My doctor seemed to think it was fine to take baths.To be on the safe side I think I will wait another week or so--I really miss my baths!!!
