Testosterone Creams - application questions.

I was reading this thread: http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...d.php?t=345865

and have the following questions about the compound cream applications:

How often do you change spots? Do you apply it every 24 hours or do you skip a day?

I am required to do 2 pumps which is a good amount. I usually wind up all over my entire thighs and buttocks (I am very petitte and thin). If I were to apply it to my arms, it'd wind up going over my entire arms. and hands and shoulders just to get it rubbed in. Any suggestions?

Lastly, how long should you wait before applying a moisturizer over the testosterone cream or can you even do that? I absolutely despise the smell of my cream, it smells like bad aromatherapy. Hideous.

Re: Testosterone Creams - application questions.

The only compounded cream I use is testosterone. I had the same issue originally with it taking too long to rub in or covering too much area. I asked the compounding pharmacy to increase the strength so I only now rub in 1/10th the amount of before but the cream is 10 times stronger. I use it on the inner thighs and alternated legs when I started, now only use it every few days (still alternate legs) and only use 1/16th tsp so I have lots of room to move application location around as it doesn't take much room to apply.

If you don't like the smell of your cream, talk to the compounding pharmacy and ask that they use a different base. Mine is white, odorless, and hypoallergenic. Doesn't smell at all.

Re: Testosterone Creams - application questions.

Wow! Two pumps of testosterone? That sounds like alot! What % if your cream? When I first starting using a testosterone cream my instructions were to apply .25 ml 1x per day. .25 is literally a dab. After about 6 weeks, I went to every other day, than a few times a week. Currently I only need to apply occassionally.

Re: Testosterone Creams - application questions.

2 pumps = 1/4 teaspoon. The strength (I'm reading off the label, obviously) is 45 C- Testosterone 1% CR 1%CRM

I have no idea what any of that means.

I'm starting to have some swelling in my nether regions, and it's SO uncomfortable. I think I'm going to move to every other day or just one pump.

I guess I'll talk to my Dr. and ask him about changing the scent (again, horrible aromatherapy) and the amount for the next bottle.

Re: Testosterone Creams - application questions.

Wow - I use 1/16 tsp of the 1% testosterone and using it daily is too much. I only use it every few days or as little as once/week.

Re: Testosterone Creams - application questions.

Hi Arianne!

I use 1% compounded testosterone cream. When I first started using it, I didn't use nearly as much as your doctor prescribed. That is a LOT of testosterone! I think at most I could use an amount that would equal about two peas. I use my compounded testosterone very rarely now but when I do, it's literally just a dab--much smaller than the size of even a small pea.

Per my request, my pharmacist uses a hypoallergenic base. I don't notice that it has any fragrance at all.

Here's a link to symptoms to watch for: Too Much/Too Little. You might want to back off using it until at least the swelling is gone.
